Southampton star could now seal shock move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer
Tottenham Hotspur considering Kyle Walker-Peters at Southampton
- Walker-Peters, 27, made 46 appearances in Championship games for Southampton in 2023–2024 and contributed two goals and four assists. He was a standout player for the team. After leaving Spurs in 2020, he signed a loan to join the Saints, where he has remained ever since. The right-back has now played 167 games for Southampton overall, dishing out 13 assists and six goals. Walker-Peters is a surprising option for former team Tottenham Hotspur, though, as they think about bolstering their full-back department this summer, according to an emerging report from GIVEMESPORT. Walker-Peters advanced through the Spurs youth system and eventually made 24 first team appearances.
The Kyle Walker-Peters problem that Southampton now face
Undeniably, Walker-Peters had a successful 2023–24 campaign and is an essential component of Martin’s Southampton game plan. Walker-Peters, though, is about to enter the last year of his Southampton contract, which aligns with Tottenham Hotspur’s growing interest. This makes it a very difficult decision for the Saints to make, and Walker-Peters may feel the same way, as he will undoubtedly be thinking about his future. Without a doubt, in the long run, he will want to be a Premier League player. Walker-Peters may decide not to sign a new contract right now, at least until Southampton’s season begins, as the team is expected to struggle.
The Saints may be better off financially if he does, and the Spurs make an offer this summer. However, that would also leave Martin without a right-back, and they would undoubtedly need to spend a lot of money to acquire a player with Walker-Peters’ skill set. Thus, it’s difficult to consider. However, it doesn’t appear that Spurs are in a rush to sign their former player.
