Southampton make first offer to sign “talented” new player
According to reports, Southampton has made their first approach to sign a prospective replacement for out-of-contract forward Che Adams this summer as the Saints get ready for the Premier League.

Adams’ current contract is set to expire at the end of the month, at which point he will depart St Mary’s. The Scot is expected to depart after leading his team back into the Premier League with 15 goals and four assists in the Championship game the previous year. This leaves a huge void that Russell Martin will probably have to fill in his squad this summer.
Nonetheless, the plan seems to be out with the old and in with the new in the coming months, with reports already linking Southampton with moves to sign Ben Brereton Diaz and now Jeronimo Domina.
The 18-year-old striker’s contract is expected to be negotiated after Southampton made their initial offer to sign Domina, according to Cesar Luis Merlo. However, Union Santa Fe rejected the offer.
Domina may be a future star who moves from South America to the Premier League, following in the footsteps of Moises Caicedo, Julian Alvarez, and Alexis Mac Allister. If he moves to Southampton this summer, he will look to emulate their achievements.
While bringing in a future star could help St Mary’s achieve goals beyond promotion, it is usually the case that newly promoted teams should look to sign proven Premier League talent. Since they are now in the top division, the goal should be to advance past a team that is fighting relegation as well as to survive.
“Talented” Jeronimo can follow Alcaraz path
Although Carlos Alcaraz’s future at Southampton is still up in the air following his loan stint at Juventus during the January transfer window, Domina can still pursue his path to St Mary’s this summer. After moving from Racing Club to Southampton, Domina will be able to play for the Saints instead of Union Santa Fe.
Despite his youth, the teenager has already made an impression, scoring twice in 11 first-team games for the Argentine Liga Professional team the previous season to pique the interest of a Premier League team. Merlo called Jeronimo “talented,” so this would be a big step for him this summer. Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout emphasized his abilities on X.
Domina’s speed could make him an excellent replacement for Adams because it can mimic the Scot’s natural off-ball acceleration while also giving him the skill and flair in his dribbling that the Southampton contract rebel may not have.
