“Absolutely bizarre” | West Ham star faces ban
Following his team’s Europa League elimination, a West Ham player made some remarks that might get him in hot water with UEFA.
For the most part, during the previous few years, West Ham supporters have shown themselves to be honourable. They have, regrettably, let themselves down a few times. The cup being thrown during the Conference League final, fighting, and Rice’s remarks following the Frankfurt draw all come to mind.
Yet, The Mirror reports that one of West Ham’s best players might be banned for remarks he made during the Hammers’ aggregate loss to Bayer Leverkusen.
Speaking his thoughts has never been a source of fear for Michael Antonio. Though occasionally he says a lot of positive things, his podcast is undoubtedly contentious as a result. More than anything, it was encouraging to learn about his recent candour about his battles with mental health. But perhaps it would have been best if he had said nothing at all after the match.
I thought the entire game I was left waiting for a decision. It annoyed me a little. As if we were deserving of better. You don’t always get your way while making decisions. Next year, we aim to qualify for the Europa League by moving forward and building on our success.

As a professional football player, you just can’t come out and say things like that, even though Jose Maria Sanchez’s performance was completely bizarre and verging on scandalous. He might have received appreciation from the East London supporters for it, but if he stays with the team when they next qualify, he now runs the risk of being ineligible for the Hammers’ upcoming European matches.
His anger was just, but that doesn’t mean you come out and say it publicly as it just harms himself and the club going forward.
