Leeds United plan to accept £12 bid – sources

Football Insider has been informed by insiders that Leeds United intends to sell Brendan Aaronson this summer, regardless of the league they play in the following campaign.

After choosing to leave the Whites after their relegation to the Championship, the USA international has been on loan to Bundesliga team Union Berlin for the duration of this season.

The offensive midfielder, 23, is not anticipated to play for Elland Road again after his stay in Germany ends. He has no future there.

Leeds United to sell Brenden Aaronson after Union Berlin loan

The American striker Aaronson left Elland Road on loan last summer after deciding he didn’t want to play for the club in the Championship. Aaronson has had a difficult couple of years since joining Leeds in a £25 million deal from Red Bull Salzburg, with his contract set to run until 2027. Aaronson made 40 appearances for the Whites during their relegation campaign, but he only scored one goal and laid on three assists.

However, it hasn’t been easy sailing for the attacker in Germany, having started in just 14 of his 37 appearances, where he’s registered just two goals and one assist. Sources suggest a permanent deal will not be financially viable for Union Berlin this summer, despite Aaronson’s price tag dropping to £12 million.

No matter which tier Leeds plays in the following season, it doesn’t appear like the American will be able to return.

In their Championship playoff semifinal matchup with Norwich City, Daniel Farke’s team is currently tied on aggregate as they attempt to guarantee an instant promotion back to the Premier League.

Leeds United

As per the report published on May 5 by Football Insider, the Whites may have to offload a number of players this summer. This is because their most recent financial statements indicate that they owe £73.6 million in unpaid transfer fees, which must be settled by June 30th.

A few of the players the team loaned out in the summer will be let go in an attempt to raise the necessary funds, with Aaronson likely to be one of them to depart Elland Road permanently.
