Arsenal coach says he was once left in shock after what Tottenham scout told him about Harry Kane
After talking to a Tottenham Hotspur scout about Harry Kane, Arsenal coach Dan Buck revealed that he was once taken aback by something.
Being able to contain Harry Kane is perhaps not overly dramatic when we suggest that Arsenal’s chances of making it to the Champions League semifinals mainly depend on how well they play Bayern Munich.
In what has been a terrible season for Thomas Tuchel’s team, Kane has been outstanding for the Bavarian giants, scoring 38 goals in the Bundesliga and Champions League.
Of course, considering his relationship with Arsenal’s opponents in North London, it would be especially hurtful if Kane turned out to be the guy to eliminate Arsenal from the Champions League.
It will, however, also serve as a reminder of Arsenal’s 2002 choice to let Kane go.
After Tottenham’s Harry Kane decision, the Arsenal coach was taken aback.
The thirty-year-old was on the Hale End books for about a year. However, Chuks Aneke and Benik Afobe, among others, frequently eclipsed Kane at the time, according to The Athletic.
It’s interesting to note that Kane wouldn’t sign with another elite team for a few more years. The striker eventually joined Tottenham in 2004 following a brief stint at Watford.
Dan Buck was Kane’s Arsenal coworker. In an interview with The Athletic, he also mentioned that he was taken aback to hear that he had signed with the Spurs.
He remarked, “I went to do some coaching at Spurs around that time.” I lost track of Harry once he left Arsenal. Subsequently, a scout for Spurs stated, “You collaborated with Harry Kane at Arsenal, did you not?” He was just signed by us. I saw him battling a great deal when I first saw him, so I was really taken aback.
Why it’s hard to criticise Gunners staff for releasing striker
Someone who failed to recognise Kane’s potential is difficult to criticise. Only a few years prior to his major breakthrough at Tottenham, he scored 14 goals in 56 league appearances over his various loan stays.
His transformation into a monstrosity was unimaginable to anyone. To say that he would even come close to becoming Tottenham’s all-time top goalscorer would have been met with laughter, for sure.
However, there aren’t many more inspiring tales to share than Harry Kane’s for individuals who have been rejected by universities.
