‘Fantastic’… Sky pundit says he absolutely loves the way 26-year-old Leeds player never hides

Jobi McAnuff has said that he absolutely loves the way one Leeds United player never seems to hide after a moment of ‘fantastic’ quality against Hull City on Monday.

After Ipswich Town’s victory against Southampton moments earlier, Leeds was under intense pressure to win at Elland Road, and they narrowly managed it.

It looked like Daniel Farke’s team would have to make do with a draw as stoppage time approached. However, thanks to Joel Piroe giving over the ball, Crispencio Summerville scored from the penalty spot.

And just inside the Hull half, Daniel James struck an incredible goal to seal the three points. With the custodian of the visitors out of position for a corner, the Welshman had an empty net to aim for. Nevertheless, there was still a chance to seize the moment of magic.

Naturally, it was James who missed the game-winning penalty kick that prevented Wales from earning a spot in the 2024 European Championship during the international break.

After that, Jobi McAnuff said on Sky Sports (broadcast on 1/4; 22:21) how much he loves James’ continued support of Leeds United.

Even though things weren’t exactly clicking at the beginning of the season, one thing I admire about Dan James is that he never hides. That’s fantastic, he remarked.

“Once more, that enormous disappointment—the team just missed a penalty and isn’t going to the Euros.” However, he rises up and wants to help the team every single week. And I’m really happy that, in light of current events, he put that aside.

A revelation this season

James has needed some time to establish himself at Leeds. It is easy to forget now, but Jesse Marsch gave him permission to go and he played on loan for Fulham during the previous season.

However, he now has 20 goal contributions for the season after his goal against Hull. In addition to his 13 goals, he has seven assists.

The only people who have directly contributed to more goals are Summerville and Georginio Rutter. That is an amazing accomplishment.

And it was great to see James secure the points against Hull this evening.

Leeds United left it late to secure all three points on Monday evening and keep the pressure on in the race for automatic promotion and the race for the Championship title – eventually beating Hull 3-1.

Leeds arrived at the game having witnessed Leicester overcome Norwich City and Ipswich defeat Southampton at Portman Road with a late goal. That means winning was essential.

They left it quite late, yet they did just that. Sam Byram scored the first goal when Cree Summerville’s attempt was parried and he scored at the back post. Hull’s equaliser came from Fabio Carvalho, who Leeds had targeted in January.

Leeds disappointed their supporters by performing far worse than they had become accustomed to seeing from Daniel Farke’s team in the second half. Hull too has opportunities. Mateo Joseph added some vigour after coming off the bench.

Crysencio Summerville comments on taking Leeds penalty

Although he struck the crossbar, Summerville’s penalty kick goal proved to be the game-winning score. Just within Hull’s half, Dan James scored his third goal after Ryan Allsopp, the custodian, went up for a corner.

Leeds’ decisive victory vaulted the Whits back into the top two. After the game, Summerville talked with Sky Sports after opting to take the ball away from £16 million player Joel Piroe in order to score. Usually, Piroe takes the penalty.

Although Piroe had entered the game as a substitute and had already defeated Preston with a late penalty, Summerville took the opportunity to take the lead and score.

“I played well in the game. I decided that this was my chance out of the few that we had. So I did, and I’m pleased with the outcome for today. Unbeaten at home, a huge three points. It is incredible to grasp all three points.

Summerville’s stats are incredible after another goal for Leeds

On his 40th appearance of the season across all competitions, Summerville scored a whopping 28 goals and provided an assist if his shot, which was parried before Byram nodded in, counts as an assist.

Outstanding total that truly merits a spot on the team that wins the promotion. Having six league games remaining, it remains to be seen if Leeds can overcome this obstacle. It is now crucial to Summerville’s future.

In the event that Leeds are unable to secure a spot in the Premier League, you can anticipate that other top-tier teams, positioned in the upper part of the league, will make an approach.Leeds has to do its best to hold him.

But for a player who Watford manager Tom Cleverley recently declared to be the finest player in the division, getting promoted will be crucial to that. Summerville’s penalty kick gave Leeds a huge advantage.
