Leeds United have fresh argument against Premier League as financial news sends shockwaves

Paul Robinson stated that Leeds United would have a case to make against the Premier League if they don’t advance this season in light of the financial scandal involving Leicester City.

Due to a suspected violation of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations during their previous three seasons in the top division, the Foxes were charged and submitted to an independent commission.

However, as Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports News explained on March 21, if they are found guilty, the points they lose will be carried over to the next season if they are allowed to return to the Premier League.

The former Leeds custodian believes that the Whites might benefit if they too make it to the top division, but he also argues that they will be disappointed if they fail to return and Leicester is not penalised this season.

“From a Leeds point of view, there are two ways to look at a points deduction,” he remarked in an interview with MOT Leeds News.

“If Leeds, as we hope, go up and Leicester start in the minuses that’s good for Leeds, whereas if for whatever reason Leeds didn’t go up this season and Leicester had the points taken off next season then there’s an argument why?

“And if the financial breaches have been found this season why haven’t they been punished in this season the same way Everton have been?”

Do Leeds United have an argument against the Premier League after Leicester City news?

Leicester isn’t a Premier League team anymore, at least not for now, so any point deduction would have to wait. This is the tough part.

For the sake of argument, let’s assume The Foxes are deducted points to start the following season, which might be very helpful for the Whites. Leeds and Leicester go up.

However, there will undoubtedly be some irritation among the Leeds leadership if they are unable to cross that line.

The entire situation is a bit disorganised and detracts from the main topic of discussion, which is the game itself.
