‘Terrific’… BBC pundit heaps praise on Leeds United man after showing ‘brilliant composure’

Rob Page’s team defeated Glen Kamara’s Finland 4-1 to claim the bragging rights in Leeds United’s player competition on the international scene on Thursday night.

Wales’ challenge in their pursuit for a spot at Euro 2024 this summer is to host Kamara and Finland in a match that has been in the works for some time. However, it was always going to happen on Thursday.

After three minutes, David Brooks scored the first goal for his nation, giving Wales the perfect start. Neco Williams scored the second goal and Harry Wilson set up the first as Wales went on to win easily.

After Teemu Pukki had pulled one back, Brooks set up Brennan Johnson for his third Wales goal at number three. Dan James, one of Leeds’ four players, is unfortunate not to have received a starting position.

Despite James’ outstanding performance for Leeds this season, Page went with Brooks, Johnson, and Wilson as his front three. James did, however, get his name on the scoreboard after coming off the bench—86 minutes in.

When the chips were down, the ex-Manchester United player completed an outstanding performance by Wales. The fourth goal for Wales was scored by him after he stole Milo Tenho of the ball and rounded the custodian.

When Nathan Blake co-commentated for BBC Sport, he complimented James on his goal and the pressure he put on after substituting. Instead of pouting at the exclusion, he made a contribution.

Let the festivities start. Dan James displayed amazing poise, which he deserved given the pressure he applied to the defence. When speaking about the Leeds winger on Thursday, Blake added, “As cool as you like.”

 

What did Welsh media say about Leeds star James tonight

James, who only entered the game 73 minutes in, was outstanding; the Leeds player received an 8 out of 10 from Welsh website Clwbpeldroed. Their assessment of his Thursday night performance was “terrific.”

He added the final touch to Wales’ impressive performance, demonstrating his excellent form. Before making a breakaway, evading the custodian and scoring the fourth goal, he stole the ball near the halfway line.

Although James hasn’t been starting lately, Jon Newsome recently noted that he has been “outstanding” this season, and he surely has for the Whites. Leeds in 37 games with 19 goals and 19 assists.

All eyes will be on Wales and James on Tuesday when they play Poland for a spot at Euro 2024 in a game that might decide their fate. Poland also established the tie after convincingly defeating Estonia 5-1 tonight.
