There was no question last summer that the Hammers needed to buy a striker, with Gianluca Scamacca having been transferred after only one season and the elderly Michail Antonio approaching his final season at West Ham.
However, David Moyes chose to employ Jarrod Bowen as a striker, content with what he had.

According to Dean Jones, Newcastle wants to offload long-time target Callum Wilson to the Hammers.
He claims that one of Wilson’s possible landing places is West Ham in a recent exclusive.
“With Callum Wilson’s contract set to expire in 2025, Newcastle United must make a decision this summer regarding him.” Jones contributes to SportsLens.
West Ham United and Bournemouth are two possible destinations for the striker, who is presently out with an injury.
“With player exits this summer, Newcastle will need to be flexible, and they’ll probably be more willing to let go of Wilson than of fellow forward Alexander Isak.”
According to reports, a few of West Ham’s Premier League competitors are also considering it.
Hammers should avoid new Ings mistake
The issue is that this is an Ings-heavy deal that West Ham should steer clear of.
Of course Wilson can score goals; that much is true.
However, considering that he is 32 and prone to catastrophic injuries, it would undoubtedly be a poor decision for the Hammers.

A youthful, quick, all-action striker similar to Victor Boniface is what West Ham should be trying to sign.
