West Ham United injury news: Doctor shares Maxwel Cornet update v Newcastle
Dr Rajpal Brar reports that Maxwel Cornet, the forward for West Ham, will probably need a fitness test before the match against Newcastle on 30 March.
According to the injury expert, the Ivorian has been sidelined for more than a month due to a Grade 2 hamstring injury.
The next game is at the end of March because of the international break the following weekend, and he missed the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa on March 17.
Brar, a sports scientist and physical therapy specialist, exclusively spoke with West Ham Zone.
At the end of March, he is anticipated to return for the match.
“As he’s been out for a few weeks, he will perhaps require a late fitness test and he won’t play if he doesn’t clear it.
“The timeline would typically mean a Grade 2 hamstring injury.
“If there are setbacks or he doesn’t respond as expected, could certainly be out a few weeks.“
Cornet to return to the West Ham bench post injury
The 27-year-old has struggled with his fitness on several occasions since he first joined the Hammers in 2022.
He has only made one league start this season; the other four were as a substitute.
His five outings in the Europa League have all come from the bench, and he has only played 53 minutes overall.
Whether or not he joins the Hammers before the upcoming season begins is still up in the air.

Since returning to the London Stadium in December 2019 to take over as West Ham’s manager for a second time, David Moyes has done a fantastic job.
The Hammers are now among the top 10 Premier League teams thanks to Moyes, who also led us to our first major championship since 1980. That being said, there are still unanswered questions about the football style he plays.

It is possible that one more West Ham player will be thinking the same thing as they did, as they felt they had to leave the London Stadium in order to salvage their individual careers.
West Ham player’s uncertain future after baffling David Moyes treatment
Eight days have passed since Danny Ings’ late equaliser against Burnley at the London Stadium cost the Hammers what may have been a crucial point.
Following his £15 million transfer from Aston Villa to West Ham in January 2023, Ings, 31, has gone through a tremendously difficult period there.
In his 46 Hammers appearances thus far, the former Villa player has only managed to score four goals (Transfermarkt).
His terrible track record in front of goal hasn’t been the only thing that has raised concerns, though; his extreme mismatch with Moyes’s system is another.
Under Moyes, where he is expected to run the channels and pursue lost causes, Ings is just not suited for the lone striker role.
At the London Stadium, Moyes has never given him the opportunity to play in a two-pronged center-forward combo, which is something he has always thrived in.
But when he equalised late against Burnley last Saturday, it appeared as though the former player for Villa, Southampton, Liverpool, and Burnley had made a significant breakthrough in his West Ham career. He could have also scored a hat-trick on another day.
After the match ended in a 2-2 draw with the Clarets, Moyes stated that he is eager to give the 31-year-old additional playing time.
But in my opinion, that was all just lip service. On Thursday, with us up 4-0 and the game won, Moyes substituted Michael Antonio after 78 minutes against Freiburg.
But instead of starting Ings and giving him fifteen minutes or so to show us what he could do, he started right-back Ben Johnson! Really, you couldn’t have made it up.But it’s not the only thing.
Antonio was substituted off by Moyes yesterday, this time after 66 minutes. But instead of pushing Ings, he re-invited Johnson into the team. The awful substitute was what actually swung the odds in Villa’s favour.
I understand that Ings was not a match for the Jamaican international, but Moyes could have used him as a number 10 to drop behind either Mohammed Kudus or Jarrod Bowen.
Ings stuck between a rock and a hard place after Moyes treatment
Remember that in January, when we drew 2-2 away at Sheffield United and he played perhaps his best game wearing a Hammers shirt? Moyes has only given him 35 minutes of action (Soccerbase) after that performance, which is absolutely shameful in my opinion.
At the London Stadium (Spotrac), the 31-year-old makes over £125,000 per week, making him our third-highest paid player after Lucas Paqueta and Kalvin Phillips.
Although I have no doubt that he is content receiving that pay, I can’t help but believe that he must not be satisfied with the way Moyes is treating him. Especially after his strong performances against Burnley and Sheffield United, the Scot has had plenty of opportunity to offer him additional playing time and minutes this season.
Given David Moyes’ perplexing treatment of Danny Ings over the last two months, it is inevitable that the striker will need to look for a move out of the London Stadium come summertime. He is squandering his career with us, having never deserved to be signed in the first place. Apparently
