We begin our final stretch of games at home against Millwall, who are in danger of relegation and will undoubtedly battle for their survival under the guidance of returning manager and cult figure Neil Harris. Since Harris returned, Millwall has actually been playing at one of its finest levels of the season. They have gone four games without a loss, going 1-0 at home against Watford and Birmingham City, drawing 1-1 at Blackburn Rovers, and winning a thrilling 2-1 at Southampton three weeks ago.

To defeat them, Leeds will undoubtedly need to play with their most fluid and powerful play, and we should expect to witness the well-known physical aggression that Harris’ teams are known for. The hardest games right now are probably those against the nine teams involved in the relegation struggle, as we seen with Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke City, and Huddersfield Town. To subdue the Lions, we’ll need to exercise the same patience.

One of the first indications that the Whites might have a strong season was the 3-0 victory at the New Den back in September.

After losing their long-time and seasoned manager Gary Rowett in October, Millwall appointed Joe Edwards, who led the team into the relegation zone. Since then, the team has had a difficult journey. The only choice left was to name the club’s fan favourite, Neil Harris, who is currently in his fourth stint as both head coach and player.

They are undoubtedly enjoying the “new manager bounce” as they have won four times and drawn once since being soundly defeated by Ipswich Town in February. One of those victories came against Southampton. It is unlikely that this will be a spectator game, and the Lions will most likely arrive at Elland Road with the intention of shutting down United.

After their convincing victory at Sheffield Wednesday, the Whites have earned a well-deserved rest. However, they will likely need some patience as they tackle their most recent task. This one will be difficult as well, but I believe United can use their vast resource base to get the desired outcome.

Leeds United 2 Millwall 0 is the prediction.

Leeds is back in action on Sunday when Millwall visits Elland Road for a 3pm kickoff. Leeds are encouraged by another victory and other outcomes from last weekend. This season, Daniel Farke has made repeated references to the fact that Leeds can only manage their own fate and allow the other teams to do their own business.

The top three are separated by just four points, with Southampton five points behind and one game remaining. Their match has been rescheduled to watch Leicester play Chelsea in the FA Cup. Millwall is unbeaten under Neil Harris, having won three of their last four games, including a 2-1 victory away to Southampton. They defeated Birmingham City last weekend thanks to a last-minute goal.

Harris will undoubtedly have his team “fired up” for this match because there has been a lot of rivalry and animosity in the past. I’d be shocked if Daniel Farke made any changes to the winning lineup for Sheffield Wednesday.

Regardless of what transpires over the next nine games, Leeds’ eighteen-year-old Archie Grey is a gem. Leeds can win by two goals to take the lead, but since both clubs have a lot riding on this game, I’d be content to keep our winning streak going regardless of the outcome.

Leeds knows they can win by two goals and move up to the top of the table when they play Millwall. Considering Leeds’ circumstances at the end of 2023, what an amazing situation. Huge praise must be given to Daniel Farke for this accomplishment thus far, but there is more work to be done before Farke can truly be considered a legend.

Taking against Millwall, who have been reappointing dismissed managers, including the tenacious Neil Harris, will not be an easy match. Despite the fact that Leeds will, for once, have a rested squad and that wise selections will need to be made, I expect enough quality to be on show from both starting and finishing teams to secure the breakthrough in what should be a fierce match full of stops and starts.

Harris will likely aim for more of the same after witnessing how Huddersfield Town caused Leeds to get uneasy. Though Leeds will already be aware of this and have demonstrated their ability to handle rough seas previously, the unexpected is always possible.

Forecast: 2 for Leeds United

It’s been a while, but the tide has been turning in this Championship season. Leeds United has had their greatest season in years after losing to West Bromwich Albion in their final 2023 match, while their opponents have struggled.

A match against their longtime rival Millwall is the only thing preventing them from holding the top spot heading into the season’s last international break. Recent games against Millwall at home have proven more difficult than they should have been. Actually, United hasn’t won at home against Millwall by the two goals needed to top the table since 2011.

Then, this can get challenging once more. But Leeds has managed to find an extra gear this season when they most needed it. A cohesive back four and a potent offensive lineup have been too formidable for most opponents to overcome.
Leeds might have another memorable weekend if they can find a way past Millwall, who will surely want to contain Daniel Farke’s team at every chance.
