EFL announcement is super news for Leeds – but it’s heartbreaking for Millwall

EFL announcement major boost for Leeds United but will break hearts at Millwall

While they continue to battle it out with Leicester City and Ipswich Town, Leeds United finds themselves in one of the closest title and automatic promotion battles in the Championship’s recent history.

There isn’t a lot of separation between the teams at the top of the table right now, and Daniel Farke’s team is hoping that either the Tractor Boys or the Foxes would flinch first in the next few weeks, which may prove to be crucial.

The Whites would want to enter those games in the automatic promotion spots, and a victory over Millwall on Sunday, March 17, will ensure that. With one game remaining before the March international break, that is possible.

Following the confirmation on its website on March 11 that Stephen Martin will officiate the match on Sunday afternoon, Leeds fans may now have more optimism about winning all three points against Neil Harris’ team.

Will Leeds United remain in the automatic promotion places and return to the Premier League?

Although some might contest whether Leeds United would really have the advantage in their match on Sunday night if a referee was appointed, the Whites have a remarkable record when Martin takes charge of scheduling.

Transfermarkt reports that Leeds has won seven of its eight games under the Englishman’s leadership and has never experienced loss. They have also drawn their lone other encounter, giving Farke’s team plenty of confidence going into their match against Millwall.

On the other hand, Harris’ team has had 18 matches refereed by Martin; they have won 50% of those games, drawn 3 times, and suffered defeat in 6 of those games.

Daniel Farke has done a good job at Leeds United

The Whites had to fight for three points in their season-opening match against these two teams, but they had an impressive performance at The Den to increase their chances of promotion early on.

Despite the fact that Millwall has won three of their past four games and has not lost since Harris moved back to East London, Leeds needs to win these kinds of games if they hope to surpass Ipswich and Leicester in the top two this season.

Martin’s good luck charm should provide Farke’s team the advantage before kickoff, and hopefully they will win all three points at Elland Road on Sunday.
