Wednesday was the more superior team during the first half, but Patrick Bamford’s goal late in the half proved to be the deciding factor. Setting up Bamford, Junior Firpo produced a stunning cross.
Bamford and Georginio Rutter then worked together shortly after the half to set up Willy Gnonto, who made it 2-0. Considering Wednesday’s performance, this was a very strong victory. Superb Ampadu emerged as the match’s man of the match.

When Pascal Struijk is fully fit, it will be interesting to watch what Daniel Farke does because Ampadu’s form and Ilia Gruev’s midfield exploits could prevent him from playing.

Sheffield Wednesday was defeated 2-0 by Leeds United on Friday night, but Owls manager Danny Rohl was not pleased with Patrick Bamford’s first goal and questioned the timing of the goal.
