Lilywhite Rose blasts ‘chaotic’ Tottenham player Daniel Levy must accept ‘huge loss’

Tottenham: Lilywhite Rose shares ‘huge loss’ verdict on ‘chaotic’ Serio Reguilon

John Wenham of Lilywhite Rose has labelled on-loan Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon “chaotic” and believes the club must do whatever they can to move him on this summer.

In a transaction valued at up to £32 million, Reguilon was acquired by Spurs from European powerhouse Real Madrid following the left-back’s stellar 2019–20 season on loan with Sevilla (Sky Sports News, September 19, 2020).

Unfortunately, for the Spaniard, things haven’t gone as planned, and he now finds himself aiming to impress while on loan in the Premier League, this time with Brentford.

Wenham feels that it’s time for Spurs to cut their losses because Reguilon’s recent performances won’t have made Ange Postecoglou reconsider his decision to allow the 27-year-old leave.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I know he has featured for Brentford, but with a year left on his contract this summer it is hard to imagine Spurs getting any more than £8million for him, which is a huge loss.

“A lot of people have told me that Reguilon should have been kept as a backup left-back rather than Ben Davies, but people seem to forget that Postecoglou did have a close look at him in pre-season.

“After starting Reguilon in three or four of those contests, he concluded that the player wasn’t for him.” Reguilon should be let go since he is extremely unruly, poor on defence, and chaotic.

This summer, will Sergio Reguilon leave Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

In North London, Reguilon finds it extremely difficult to envision a path back.

His latest performance in the Bees’ 4-2 loss to West Ham on February 26 shows that is not the case. Perhaps if he was playing well for Brentford, he might have had one last chance to make an impression upon his return to Hotspur Way.

Many Tottenham fans in North London will be perplexed as to why the Spaniard’s career took such a turn for the worst. At one stage, it appeared like he might develop into a star left-back for the club.

That didn’t work out well for him or the team, unfortunately, and it appears Daniel Levy may have to accept a big loss for the defence this summer.

Sergio Reguilon has struggled to make an impression at Tottenham in recent years.

A new deal is highly improbable, and Spurs run a serious risk of losing a player they spent more than £30 million on for free if he isn’t traded before September.
