‘Have a little think’: BBC pundit thinks Daniel Farke may have to change Leeds player’s position now

There was undoubtedly no decline in quality despite Daniel Farke’s multiple changes to his Leeds United team last night.

One player that entered and had an immediate effect was Jaidon Anthony. Mateo Joseph made just his second start of the season and scored the team’s first two goals.

The midfield duo of Archie Grey and Ethan Ampadu, who have both been needed at the back in the league, was the starting lineup that Farke selected after making a few positional alterations.

Ampadu has spent his whole career switching between the midfield and the defence, but there’s no denying that the former is his strongest position.Grey, on the other hand, fills in at right back primarily as a centre midfielder.

After the game, Jon Newsome of BBC Radio Leeds stated that he thought Farke will decide whether to send Grey back there permanently. Grey put on an amazing individual display that earned him the Man of the Match award on ITV.

Newsome says Farke now has Gray midfield call

He said: “I thought Archie was wonderful tonight, the way that he covered grass, you know he’s matured so much as a player. In this second half when Firpo was coming down the left, Archie is playing the ball to him and shouting for him to get forward.

“He’s actually dictating the play as a 17-year-old. He’s ordering 26-28-year-old men around as a kid, it doesn’t happen in another work place. It’s great to see that maturity, belief and football intelligence.

“I think he’s put a real marker down there tonight and said to Daniel Farke maybe you need to have a little think about this.”

The 17-year-old would be more better for Leeds in his rightful position, as Archie’s great uncle Eddie stated before the game, and he was definitely proven correct last night.

Grey is clearly a better player in midfield, and if Farke decides to switch, Connor Roberts is ready to step in. Grey has been absolutely outstanding in recent weeks at right-back.

After suffering an injury that prevented him from playing against Chelsea, Ilia Gruev might not be ready to play against Huddersfield Town. In that case, Grey and Glen Kamara in the middle of the field with Ampadu at centre back and Roberts on the right could
