‘Incredible’: Laura Woods shares what she noticed about Leeds United fans during last night’s game

Last night, the enthusiastic supporters of Leeds United who travelled to Stamford Bridge were rewarded with a superb show.

Conor Gallagher’s goal in the ninetieth minute gave Chelsea the opportunity to secure their spot in the round of eight, however the Whites’ FA Cup trip may have ended there.

Before Chelsea could seize the lead owing to goals from Nicolas Jackson and Mykhaylo Mudryk, Mateo Joseph had given Leeds the lead early on with his first-ever goal for the team.

After that, one would have assumed Chelsea would win handily, but Leeds was by much the stronger team at the half, and Joseph managed to tie the score with his second of the evening.

Even though Leeds lost the game in the end, the crowd expressed gratitude for the effort both during and after. Speaking during full time on ITV Sport, Laura Woods praised the away end as “amazing.”

“First of all, their fans were incredible over there, so we should give a nod to Leeds,” the speaker stated. They could not stop talking the entire time.

Daniel Farke was not pleased with the match’s schedule and made it clear during the build-up that he was still keeping an eye on Huddersfield Town this coming Saturday.

Leeds United injury blows start to build up at Elland Road

Although the absence of Gruev and Rutter will be felt, given the depth Elland Road has at their disposal, they should be able to handle it. Both players have been essential members of Farke’s first-choice squad this season.

An FA Cup match against Premier League competition is probably the game you would want to miss those players for, rather than a pivotal league match in their quest for automatic promotion.

Good news for Farke and his hopes of having some players back for the Huddersfield match is that the injuries aren’t expected to be long-term problems or something that may ruin their season.

Gruev’s replacement, Archie Grey, was praised well for his performance at Stamford Bridge. Rutter’s loss was most noticed against Chelsea, as Joel Piroe found it difficult to fill his shoes.
