Chris Sutton highlights ‘unfortunate’ Leeds United FA Cup issue as Whites eye Chelsea upset

Leeds United plays the winners of the Carabao Cup. Chelsea will play in the FA Cup tomorrow night with the goal of making it to the competition’s quarterfinals for the first time in twenty-one years.

Leeds United and Chelsea are getting ready for an exciting FA Cup fifth round match. The Whites are hoping to make it to the competition’s quarterfinals for the first time since 2003 when they go to Stamford Bridge.

The Whites will be the underdog to advance to the round of eight, despite winning 11 of their previous 12 games in all competitions, including nine straight in the Championship. Following Todd Boehly’s acquisition, the Blues, who are now residing in the Premier League’s middle of the league, have lavishly invested in the transfer market.

Chris Sutton predicts the score ahead of Chelsea vs Aston Villa in the FA Cup

In his weekly BBC prediction piece, analyst Chris Sutton has predicted that Chelsea would defeat the Whites 2-0 tomorrow night in order to recover from their disappointing Carabao Cup campaign. “Chelsea really needs to win this, especially considering how they lost the Carabao Cup final on Sunday,” he stated. When they had the opportunity to really go after Liverpool’s youth, it was their performance in extra time that failed them down.

Leeds are performing admirably under [Daniel] Farke, but he may give this tie less importance than their promotion bid. The Championship is really tight right now; although they have Southampton and Ipswich breathing down their necks, they will also feel like they can catch Leicester. I hope he doesn’t, but this is one of the rare times where I would understand if he made some changes.

“In retrospect, I believe that a big portion of the Chelsea team’s 2-0 loss to Leeds at Stamford Bridge during my tenure there definitely sprang from me. I’m going to proceed with the same outcome once more, but this time it will be at home.”

“I remember being part of a Chelsea team that lost 2-0 to Leeds at Stamford Bridge in the year I was there – thinking back, it was probably largely down to me. I’m going with the same scoreline again, but a home win this time.”
