Heung-min Son: Tottenham have already opened talks, formal negotiations soon – sources
Despite Heung-min Son’s shaky contract status, Tottenham will not accept any offers for the captain, sources have told Football Insider.
In the run-up to the summer transfer window, the 31-year-old has been frequently associated with Saudi Pro League teams.
Son signed his last extension in July 2021, and he is now under contract in North London until June 2025.
But according to a reliable source who spoke with Football Insider, Spurs plan to hold formal talks about a new contract for the South Korean international in the summer.
Informal talks are reportedly already underway to determine whether he would be interested in reuniting with the Lilywhites.
Son in talks over new Tottenham deal amid Saudi interest
Since Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023, Son has assumed the role of becoming Tottenham’s main goal scorer.
During the 2023–24 season, he has made 23 appearances in all competitions and has achieved 12 goals and 6 assists.
Since the beginning of this term, the forward—who will turn 32 in July—has worn the captain’s armband.

Son moved from Bayer Leverkusen to Tottenham in 2015, and during his time there, he scored 157 goals in 395 games.
In club history, he has scored the third-most goals, trailing only Harry Kane and Jimmy Greaves.
With 122 caps, the two-footer has also scored 44 goals for South Korea.
Five points behind Aston Villa in fourth place, Tottenham and Son are positioned fifth in the Premier League standings under Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs ready to sell player ‘Ange quite likes’ to free up wages
Spurs have a number of players on their radar as they get ready for the summer transfer window.
Journalist Graeme Bailey claims that Tottenham is in negotiations to recruit Adrien Rabiot, a France international, for the upcoming campaign.
Less than half of the central midfielder’s Juventus contract is left until it expires at the end of June.
A number of Premier League teams, including the Lilywhites, have reportedly expressed interest in signing Rabiot on a free transfer. Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United are also said to be considering the possibility.
Graham Bailey, in an interview with The Spurs News, stated that the team is looking for a midfield player in the summer to take Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s place. Rabiot might be the one to step in and take over for the Danish midfielder.
Although he says that “Ange quite likes” Hojbjerg, the Spurs may decide to move him because of his salary and present position on the squad.
The reporter stated:
“It sounds like they would like to add another midfield player. If Hojbjerg finds someone, we anticipate that they will depart in the summer.
“I’ve heard that Ange really likes Hojbjerg, but they’re both prepared to move on in terms of his pay and position in the team. If they have an opportunity to acquire a really world-class central midfielder, I believe they will take it.
“Rabiot is available for free, and there are other possibilities. While talking, they are glancing about. Among the top free agents is him.
Under Ange Postecoglou, the Danish midfielder has witnessed a decrease in playing time as the Australian coach favours players like Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr as his starting lineup.
However, he has performed admirably each time he has been used as a substitute, which is not surprising considering how well he has played for Spurs ever since joining the team.
