“Yes, my agent told me” – Tottenham man reveals Real Madrid interest, don’t know ‘what will happen’ after this season

Alejo Véliz was permitted to sign a loan agreement with Sevilla during the winter transfer window after finding it difficult to secure consistent playing time at Tottenham Hotspur during the first half of the season.

The La Liga team plays Real Madrid on Sunday. Prior to the match, AS spoke with the 20-year-old.

The footballer, who is owned by Tottenham, has stated that he will make an effort to enjoy his weekend trip to Santiago Bernabéu.

He was questioned about the veracity of earlier reports that suggested Los Blancos were interested in the striker.

In response, he stated: “Yes, it was reported in the media, and my agency informed me a while back that Real Madrid was interested, but nothing came of it.

“I wanted to stay at Rosario and play more,” the player said. “It was during the South American U20 Championship. I hadn’t been in the first team for long.” additionally following the U20 World Cup.Nonetheless, I’m a cool man who takes things slowly and has a strong faith in God, who directs my steps and will provide for me with the best.

January 2023 marked the conclusion of the South American U20 Championship, which was held five months prior to the U20 World Cup.

Former Sevilla man Bryan Gil is at Spurs and when asked if the Spaniard had convinced him to join the Andalusian club, Véliz explained. “We came during a break. Tottenham gave us a weekend off, I was alone there and Bryan invited me to come. When the possibility came up, I didn’t even hesitate.”

Alejo Veliz development update

The Argentine was recruited by Tottenham to a contract that will expire in 2029 after being plucked from Rosario Central last summer. It is unclear if Véliz will stay with the Spanish team past this season and Sevilla does not have the option to purchase him.

“I have no idea what will occur. It will take time to see if I stay. I’m glad to be here and I hope that many positive things will happen, so Sevilla and their supporters should be satisfied with me right away,” he continued.

The Tottenham player asserts that he must “work twice as hard if we want to even think about that possibility” despite not having yet played for Argentina’s national team.
