31 touches, 44% passing accuracy: 26-year-old Tottenham player had a nightmare v Wolves

After a strong few weeks, Tottenham’s loss to Wolves this past weekend brought them crashing back to earth.

Thus far, Ange Postecoglou’s tenure as manager has been mainly favourable. The team has performed admirably most of the time because they are among the top four contenders and play thrilling football.

But the depth of the squad is still an issue, as seen by the absence of players like Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie against the Wolves, which made it clear that they are not strong enough to compete.

They may not have many choices for true strikers at the top of the pitch, and even though Richarlison has been playing well lately, the Tottenham forward had a terrible game this past weekend.

Richarlison has a stinker for Tottenham as Wolves take all three points

Given his previous success, it might seem a little unfair to single out Richarlison for this weekend. There are arguments to be made against a few more Tottenham players besides him, who wasn’t the only one to have a quiet day.

But Richarlison was especially subpar in this match, as the simple stat lines demonstrate.

The Brazilian was substituted out during roughly the 70th minute of the match, according to WhoScored, after being almost unnoticeable throughout.

With just 31 touches, the striker’s passing accuracy was a pitiful 44%. Those touches were a team low compared to his teammates; on the day, custodian Victorio even had more touches.

Heung-Min Son had the second-lowest pass completion percentage of the day with almost 81%, which was appalling for the striker as well.

When Richarlison isn’t scoring goals, his game actually seems to be lacking a lot, which is the actual issue here.

It would be interesting to watch in the summer if Postecoglou takes this into consideration and goes all out for a player who is a little more well-rounded overall.
