“Absolutely concerned” – Tottenham chiefs concerned they could lose their best man to Premier League rivals

Chiefs at Tottenham are extremely worried that they might lose their top player to rival Premier League teams.

Since taking over as manager of Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, Ange Postecoglou has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Although he wasn’t the most well-liked name on Daniel Levy’s managerial shortlist, hiring him over a few well-known candidates turned out to be a brilliant move.

Son: “Watching Spurs at the Asian Cup was a nightmare.”
Son Heung-min, the captain of Tottenham, claims that when he was playing for South Korea in the AFC Asian Cup, he could feel the anxiety just watching the team’s games on TV.

The Australian manager has led the team to success in spite of several injuries and player absences, showing remarkable improvement with a relatively limited roster.

Spurs are now four points clear of Aston Villa in fifth place, with 47 points. Additionally, they are only 7 points behind Liverpool, the league leaders, and their unexpected title challenge is still very much alive.

Postecoglou has attracted interest from a number of clubs throughout the division after winning Premier League Manager of the Month for the first three months of his first Premier League season.

Executives at Tottenham are concerned that once Jurgen Klopp said he was leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, their head coach will be lured to relocate to Merseyside.

The leadership in North London is concerned about Postecoglou moving to Anfield, according to transfer journalist Pete O’Rourke in an interview with the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Insider Track Podcast (via Football Insider).

According to the source, Daniel Levy and other members of the Spurs management team are “absolutely concerned Ange could go” to Liverpool at the end of the season.

It also implies that the 58-year-old’s continued employment with the team is contingent upon Tottenham’s Champions League qualification.

Manchester City has been touted as a possible destination for the Australian, who has previously been linked to a move away from N17 to a premier club, especially in light of the rumors surrounding Pep Guardiola’s likely exit in 2019.

TBH Says:

Given how effectively he has been performing, it is quite improbable that Postecoglou will depart the team after just one season at Spurs.

Postecoglou faced challenges when he first arrived, but he made an immediate impact at Tottenham, earning him consideration for prestigious managerial roles.
