Leeds loanee now has high chance of permanent exit with clear-out on cards – report

Diego Llorente update emerges at Leeds United in Roma transfer news

Diego Llorente, a Leeds United loanee, has a good chance of staying at Roma after his loan period ends at the conclusion of this season, according to FootballNews24.

On February 12, an Italian football news outlet indicated that Roma will be clearing out their defence in the summer, with Llorente maybe making it out alive.

Rasmus Kristensen, who is also on loan at Roma from Elland Road, is not discussed about his future other than to say that he is on loan, implying that no steps have been taken in the direction of a permanent agreement.

Another Leeds United departure

There was a bit of an exodus from Elland Road after they were relegated from the Premier League, as a number of important players left the team because of loan provisions in their contracts.

As the season draws to a close, the loan players must decide whether to pursue a permanent move away from their parent club or make the contentious decision to return.

The likes of Marc Roca, Brenden Aaronson, and Robin Koch all left during the summer. Koch had already agreed to a permanent move, while Aaronson was more likely to make a comeback depending on how the season played out.

Although Llorente is sought at the Italian club, it remains to be seen if the two Roma loanees choose the same route as Koch, Roca, or Aaronson. The effects of the summer departure are beginning to manifest themselves.

Overall, Leeds seems to have profited from their departures, as they were able to let go of individuals who brought baggage into the promotion battle and make room for new players.

In other news:

Leeds United defeated Swansea City 4-0 to extend their winning streak in the Championship to seven games.

The Whites took the lead early on in the game and never looked back, with goals from Joel Piroe and Crysencio Summerville in the first ten minutes.

After that, Willy Gnonto carried on his excellent play by scoring twice after the break, enabling Leeds to climb to second in the championship for the first time at the end of a game week all season.Last night, Daniel Farke gave Gnonto a huge sign of confidence by starting the 20-year-old ahead of Dan James, who rejoined the team after missing three weeks.

Prior to his injury, James was playing at a level comparable to his best. This season, he has already scored 10 goals and provided six assists, but he now has to work hard to regain his place on the squad.

James faces starting XI fight

James has had such a fantastic season because of Farke’s approach, which since taking over has been to reward individuals in form with regular runs in the team.

But, given that Gnonto is currently enjoying his greatest run of play since his final year at Leeds, it might also prove to be the reason he loses his spot in the starting lineup going ahead.

In addition to his two goals, Gnonto helped Piroe score the other goal against his old team.He has now contributed six goals to the league this season. Of those, half arrived yesterday night.

Farke now faces a dilemma going forward because it would be incredibly unjust to break the rhythm that Gnonto has created over the past several weeks by placing him back on the bench.

James will undoubtedly get his chance because Leeds has a hectic schedule of games coming up, but just now, Gnonto should lose that right-wing position.
