‘Throw some punches’ – Swansea City boss makes ‘timid’ criticism after heavy Leeds United defeat
After Swansea.com Stadium saw his team concede four goals without answering in the middle of the week, the manager of the Swans was clearly upset with his team’s implementation of the game plan. Williams argued that while Leeds went wild in South Wales, there was nothing fundamentally wrong with the structure or tactics, just his team’s style of play.
Leeds won their seventh straight league game and their eleventh game overall without a loss since the start of the year with to goals from Crysencio Summerville, Joel Piroe, and two Willy Gnonto.
We were too cautious to play that way and were too afraid to press, which gave them time at the back of the pitch. As a result, we didn’t compete well. They’re too good if you give them enough time. They will not relinquish the ball.
“We got into a lot of trouble for ourselves. We didn’t go near to them when we were in close proximity, according to Williams.
After taking over for Michael Duff at the Swans, the former Nottingham County manager has only won twice in his nine games in the role.

Prior to Wednesday night’s games, Swansea drops to 17th position in the standings, while Leeds advances to second place, passing Southampton, who were defeated 3-1 by Bristol City.

Near the end of the warm-up, Leeds lost their centre forward. Due to some pain, Bamford was taken out of the starting lineup, making room for Joel Piroe to play against his old team. After that, the Whites stormed into a 2-0 lead in less than ten minutes, with goals from Piroe and Crysencio Summerville, effectively eliminating the startled Swans from the game. During his game planning, Farke focused a lot on Swansea’s possession game, and he believed that this was the team’s best performance of the season thus far. “We had a huge victory on the road,” he remarked. We were quite considerate because we had done a lot of analysis, particularly on their outstanding most recent home game. They have good possession, so it’s challenging to press them. We had to be precise, and we were. Quite contentwith our fervor in the exigency. We enjoyed plenty of ball control and wins, and the players flawlessly carried out the game plan. We played the most disciplined and precise version of the game plan that we could have imagined. We played today pretty much exactly how we wanted to. The players deserve all the credit.
