Leeds United: Julian Warren apologises to Crysencio Summerville as he’s slammed v Swansea City
After seemingly cursing the Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville for his early “stinker” against Swansea City, Julian Warren expressed regret to him.
Before the game, host Warren of Sky Sports and analyst Gary Rowett spoke highly of Summerville and teammate Patrick Bamford.
Nonetheless, Summerville’s initial contribution in South Wales was an off-target free-kick that amused the two of them.
“The only thing I’d say is that Summerville clearly hasn’t listened to us eulogising about him because he’s sent a free-kick 40 yards over the bar. It’s nowhere near,” Rowett said on Sky Sports News [13 February, 19:53].
Warren added: “We talked about Patrick Bamford and he got injured in the warm-up; we bigged up Crysencio Summerville and he’s had a stinker so far – sorry to them both.”
Crysencio Summerville continues impressive form
Although Summerville’s evening did not start off well, he quickly made up for it by scoring for Leeds a little while after saying these things.
He was able to steer one in to open the score for United at the Swansea.com Stadium after appearing to find his range from the misdirected free-kick.
This season, the Dutchman has been in incredible form for the Whites and doesn’t appear to be slowing down. He doesn’t hesitate to take on challenges that others would be hesitant to, and it usually pays off.
Regarding Bamford, let’s hope it was a non-serious injury that kept him out of the starting lineup against Swansea. Similar to Summerville, he has recently emerged as a key member of Leeds.
The fact that Joel Piroe, who scored against his old team as well, was able to lead the line instead says all you need to know about how good this Leeds team is.

Near the end of the warm-up, Leeds lost their centre forward. Due to some pain, Bamford was taken out of the starting lineup, making room for Joel Piroe to play against his old team. After that, the Whites stormed into a 2-0 lead in less than ten minutes, with goals from Piroe and Crysencio Summerville, effectively eliminating the startled Swans from the game.
