Joy for Ange as agent shares ‘positive’ contract update on 99% Tottenham

Son Heung-min would prefer to be a permanent member of Tottenham’s north London team.

With the arrival of Ange Postecoglou at Spurs last summer, Son has been playing at some of his best.

Son has moved out of his former teammate’s shadow and assumed the role of Spurs’ top player with ease following Harry Kane’s £100 million transfer to Bayern Munich before to the 2023–24 season commencing (Sky Sports News, August 13).

With 12 Premier League goals this season and another six assists in the same division, he tops the scoring rankings in North London.

With the 31-year-old clearly adjusting to his new leadership role like a duck to water, Postecoglou’s decision to elevate him to the position of club captain seems to have done wonderfully.

Many Tottenham fans, if you were to poll them, would probably be eager for the South Korean international to end his career at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. And according to dependable Tottenham insider Paul O Keefe, who is also an FA-registered agent, the team is apparently making every effort to make that happen.View: Joy for Ange as agent shares 'positive' contract update on 99% Tottenham ace

Via his official X account on February 13, O Keefe answered, “Yes,” to a fan’s question about if the team intended to extend Son’s “contract for at least two more years.” They’ve previously had several fruitful conversations.

Son the key to success at Tottenham

While many would credit Kane for some of the most memorable Spurs moments in the last 10 years, Son has really stood up the most of the time.

Son was the player who scored three goals over the course of two legs against Manchester City in the quarterfinals of Tottenham’s incredible run to the UEFA Champions League Final in the 2018–19 campaign.

In the Round of 16, he scored a goal against Borussia Dortmund as well. In fact, he has proven to be a reliable substitute for Kane on numerous occasions.

He returned to his best form this season after a challenging campaign the previous year, and he may be playing some of his greatest football under Postecoglou.

Son came off the substitute and contributed the game-winning assist in Saturday’s 2-1 home victory over Brighton, coming off of his return to North London after South Korea’s elimination from the AFC Asian Cup.

In the 96th minute, Brennan Johnson scored a huge goal from a wide range of passes that he produced, and his 92 percent completion rate against the Seagulls served as a reminder of his ability (Sofascore).

According to fbref, Son is essential to Postecoglou and Spurs’ style of play. This season, he has played (4.51 per 90) and received (9.80 per 90) more progressive passes than any other Premier League forward, placing him in the 97th percentile among forwards.

With 0.63 goals per 90 games this season in England’s top flight, his goal total puts him in the top 15% of his positional peers, and with 0.31 assists per 90 games, he is in the top 6%.

SpursSon continues to shine at Tottenham

He creates high-quality opportunities for his teammates, as seen by the fact that his total projected assisted goals (0.34 per 90) are in the 99th percentile.

From a Spurs standpoint, long may Son continue to lead both on and off the pitch.

A financial expert has responded to a “very significant” £100 million update that Spurs have released, in other Tottenham news.
