Leeds United player Patrick Bamford disclosed what transpired to him during the previous season, which infuriated Graham Smyth.
The 30-year-old said that after missing a penalty in the team’s Premier League draw against Newcastle United, Whites officials had to set up security at his home. The forward was also compelled to delete his social media accounts, he said on the BBC’s My Mate’s a Footballer podcast on Thursday, February 8.
On Thursday, Smyth sent a tweet stating that it would take a “proper moron” to show up at a football player’s house and that it’s “difficult” to see how someone could be “that angry at one individual to begin with.”
“You’d have to be a proper moron to show up to a footballer’s home,” said the Yorkshire Evening Post journalist. “Difficult to imagine being that angry at one individual to begin with, but then staying that angry as you get in the car and drive there? Freaks.”

Fans should never, ever show up at a player’s house; this is a very fine line that was obviously crossed by a supporter.
Everyone occasionally becomes upset with players, but even if we all enjoy the game, it’s not a matter of life or death, therefore it should never become too personal.
It is entirely unacceptable for someone to go to such extremes in order to vent their frustrations since no one should ever feel as though their family’s safety is in jeopardy.
This is something you would never expect to happen, so it must have been a trying moment for the forward; it makes sense that he lost all confidence in the months that followed.
But after displaying excellent play to regain his spot in the starting lineup at Elland Road at the beginning of the year, the forward now seems to have moved past that.
