Leeds United midfielder makes feelings clear on Daniel Farke after loan exit
Ball-playing midfielder Lewis Bate left Leeds United in the January transfer window, joining MK Dons on loan for the remainder of the campaign
Lewis Bate maintains that his lack of first team opportunities at Elland Road hasn’t affected his relationship with Daniel Farke, the manager of Leeds United. After a productive loan stint with Oxford United, the midfield player returned to the West Yorkshire club in the summer of last year.
With Farke’s hiring, Bate felt he would get another chance to make an impression. However, the 21-year-old has only made one appearance for the German team, substituting late in their Carabao Cup victory over Shrewsbury Town in August.
In January’s transfer window, Farke gave Bate permission to join Milton Keynes Dons in his pursuit of regular senior football. With his United contract expected to expire after the 2023–24 season, it is still unknown where Bate will play in the long run.
Bate told MKCitizen, looking back on his Whites situation: “It was tough.” The team failed, and a new manager was appointed. You constantly worry if they’ll think well of you, and it turns out they didn’t. However, that concludes the game; you go on and attempt to play other ones.
“Each person has a unique career path. I don’t care; chances haven’t been as abundant, but that’s football if the manager doesn’t like you.”
Bate, who temporarily joined the League Two team in July 2021, has made four appearances for United. In the 1-0 loss to promotion rivals Barrow on Saturday, he received his second league start.
On Saturday, the sixth-placed Dons will host Accrington Stanley at the Stadium MK.

They have won five straight league games and have advanced to the FA Cup’s fifth round by defeating Plymouth Argyle and Peterborough United. Although Leeds City is still leading the standings, Leeds, Southampton, and Ipswich Town are fighting it out for second place.
As things stand, the Saints have a tiny lead, but Leeds are playing well right now, and Sharpe, who spent thirty games with the Whites after joining from Manchester United in 1996, thinks his former team is doing very well.
“Farke has unquestionably demonstrated that he is the ideal candidate to lead Leeds forward,” Sharpe stated to instantcasino.com. “The Championship requires you to play so many games that I don’t think it’s possible to go the whole season without experiencing at least one slump, like what happened in December.
Sharpe was also optimistic about Leeds’ chances of securing promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, citing the atmosphere at Elland Road as a big bonus for the side towards the business end of the season.
“Every team wants to play in the atmosphere of Elland Road, but it’s as exciting and scary as it is,” he continued. “Farke is doing an excellent job of trying to get them back into the Premier League; they are the kind of club that people want.” They will still have a solid chance in the play-offs even if they don’t advance automatically.
“The team is going to really strive for automatic promotion after making a few solid additions. Leeds is a huge team, therefore I’d love to see them rise again.
