Ally McCoist and Alan Brazil clash over Leeds United, Ipswich Town promotion prediction
Which of Leeds United, Ipswich Town, and Southampton will advance to the Premier League? Ally McCoist and Alan Brazil have shared their predictions.
Leeds is now one point ahead of fourth-place Ipswich and one point behind second-place Southampton in the Championship. Both teams have a game remaining.
Brazil stated Leeds and Ipswich appear “destined” for the play-offs, trailing only unbeaten Southampton and Leicester City. He made this statement on talkSPORT Breakfast [February 7, 09:29 am].
But McCoist went on to say that the only teams vying to follow Leicester in the top division are Leeds and Southampton, to which Brazil replied, “Yes.”
After that, Brazil changed course and stated that Ipswich could not be completely ruled out. McCoist responded, “No, no, no.” Yes, you replied.
“I said if we can make the playoffs I’d be delighted, and I think that’s what we’re destined for,” co-host Brazil continued. Thus, you have six weeks to apologise.
Championship promotion battle heating up
A few months ago, it seemed as though Leicester and Ipswich would easily win the automatic promotion race.
But while Ipswich has collapsed as many predicted, Southampton and Leeds have both found their form at the perfect time.
To be fair, the Tractor Boys have excelled and this is their first season back in the second division after being promoted last time around.
All that’s needed for Kieran McKenna’s team to suddenly become favourites for second place again is for them to find some kind of second wind.

While Southampton is enjoying a club-record unbeaten run, this remarkable run must eventually come to an end, right?
Leeds will also not win every game from this point on until the end of the campaign, but they can still very well be in the running.
Depending on your perspective, this could be the most exciting three-way matchup in Championship history for the second automatic promotion berth.
