Tottenham confirm transfer coup after late Deadline Day talks
Spurs dramatically ended a hectic January window by taking the lead against Barcelona.
After surpassing Barcelona to capture the Swedish sensation Lucas Bergvall, Tottenham has officially announced his arrival.
The 17-year-old midfielder, who signed a five-year contract with the team for around £8.5 million, will formally join Ange Postecoglou’s first team squad this summer.
It is believed that a variety of add-ons could raise the initial cost.
After meeting with fellow countryman Dejan Kulusevski on Monday at the team’s training facility, Bergvall left for Barcelona as both teams made a strong effort to sign the highly-regarded youth.
Talks late into transfer deadline day, however, saw Spurs convince the Sweden international to opt for a move to north London, with the move officially announced on Friday evening.
With Romanian center-back Radu Dragusin arriving from Genoa earlier this month and former Chelsea forward Timo Werner signing on loan from RB Leipzig, Spurs were among the busier clubs during an otherwise quiet January transfer window.
Alejo Veliz, a teenage striker, departed Spurs on Deadline Day to play on loan with Sevilla in Spain for the remainder of the season.

During the January transfer window, Manchester City showed interest in acquiring two young players from Tottenham Hotspur, according to sports journalist Alasdair Gold.
Gold claimed that City were closely monitoring two talented young players from the North London team.
During a recent episode of Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham, Gold stated the following:
“You have Mikey Moore, a truly amazing talent. Also, Callum Olusesi. Moore and Olusesi were persuaded to remain with the Spurs. I believe that Man City and other elite teams were attempting to acquire them and similar teams.
The 16-year-old left winger Mikey Moore has been very effective for Tottenham’s U18 team, with six assists and 12 goals in just ten U18 Premier League games.
A central midfielder named Callum Olusesi has also demonstrated his ability, amassing six goals and three assists in 12 games during the FA Youth Cup and U18 Premier League.
Manchester City had an active transfer window, securing the signing of Argentine teenage talent Claudio Echeverri. They also loaned out defensive midfielder Kalvin Phillips to West Ham United until the end of the season.
City are back in top form as they catch up with league leaders Liverpool. They are only 5 points behind them and have a game in hand.
And with Kevin de Bruyne and Erling Haaland back from injuries, the stage is set for another intense battle between the two clubs
