Don’t Get Carried Away – Leeds United Legend Tempers Whites’ Excitement
The legendary player for Leeds United, Jon Newsome, has maintained that the Whites should not rush their quest for promotion from the Championship.
At Ashton Gate on Friday night, the Whites defeated Bristol City 1-0 thanks to a masterful display of play.
Leeds has solidified their status as one of the heavy favourites to be promoted to the Premier League this season by winning their past five Championship games.
Owing to their recent performance, Leeds fans are incredibly enthusiastic, but Newsome emphasised that the Whites shouldn’t get ahead of themselves at this point in the season because the race is still long and difficult.
Considering what the other teams are doing, he thinks it is still too early to start glancing at the Championship table.
Leeds needs to concentrate on their performances and outcomes while still trying to play football, according to the former White.
We still have a long way to go, as Newsome stated on BBC Radio Leeds.
“Let’s not get carried away.
“When it gets down to single figures, then we will start looking at the table and that’s when you start really getting a picture of yourself.
“All we can do is do what we have done today – go to teams, take them on, show them how good we are and we have done that in abundance.”
Tuesday night, Leeds plays Plymouth in an FA Cup Fourth Round replay. The following weekend, they welcome Rotherham United at Elland Road in the Championship.
Could Be of Interest to You
Ian Poveda, a winger for Leeds United, has decided to sign with Sheffield Wednesday rather than Birmingham City.
If Leeds United decides to allow Ian Poveda go despite Birmingham and Sheffield Wednesday showing interest, they will not bring in a replacement.
