‘Quality player’… Ange Postecoglou left seriously impressed with £15 million Tottenham player last night

Timo Werner, the new kid for Tottenham Hotspur, received praise from Ange Postecoglou for his performance against Brentford on Friday night.

Timo Werner, who played a major role in both of Spurs’ goals that evening, put on his greatest performance to date in a Spurs jersey.

Despite Neal Maupay’s early goal, Spurs trailed at the half as they were unable to break through a stubborn Brentford defence.

After the interval, Tottenham got off to a quick start, scoring three goals in the first eleven minutes of the second half.

Destiny Udogie and Werner connected down the left side, and the Italian eventually scored an equaliser.

In the minute that followed the goal, the German found himself free down the left side once more, this time finding Brennan Johnson with a superb ball across the box.

It gave the Welshman an easy tap-in, and minutes later, Richarlison added a third goal for Spurs. Werner’s performance has undoubtedly impressed his new boss, Ange Postecoglou.

After yesterday’s victory, Postecoglou praised Werner specifically, calling the forward a “quality” player in an interview with Football.London.

He declared, “I thought he was great.” “He was a little bit isolated in the first half, and we perhaps didn’t help him enough in that left channel.

“We gave him some better service in the second half. He’s a good player, which I believe he has demonstrated at this level, and I believe he will only get better as he gets stronger, more fit, and has a greater understanding of our style of play.

“I thought he was good, and I know he has goals in him that will come for Tottenham.”

Since coming on loan earlier this month from RB Leipzig, Werner has adapted rather nicely.

This summer, Tottenham will have the opportunity to finalise the transfer for a value of £15.5 million.

If the 27-year-old continues to show promise, you would think that Postecoglou would be eager to make this a permanent move given his early success at Spurs.
