Tottenham: £32m star ‘waiting on’ Spurs, Brentford to ‘proceed’ after medical ‘issues’ are flagged
After his move to Brentford fell through, Antonio Nusa, a target for Tottenham, is no closer to joining a Premier League team, according to Ben Jacobs.
This season, Nusa, 18, has made an impression for Club Brugge. For a reported sum of approximately €37 million (£31.6 million), he was on the verge of joining the Bees.
But once Brentford found knee and back problems during the winger’s examination, the deal was not completed.
Any transfer agreement seems to depend on Nusa’s ability to fulfil his seasonlong loan at Brugge.
The player is presently waiting to see if another Premier League team makes a proposal, according to Jacobs, with Brugge “insisting on” a fee equivalent to what Brentford were willing to pay. Spurs and Chelsea are still in the running.
“No progress as of Wednesday morning on Antonio Nusa,” wrote Jacobs in his writing on X.
“Club Brugge sources, despite knee and back issues during his medical, insist on a valuation similar to the €37m package agreed with Brentford.”
Clubs have been communicating, but the transaction has not yet moved forward. Nusa must be waiting to see whether Brentford or another team decides to move forward.
“Nusa was always going to stay at Brugge until summer as part of any deal, and if nothing changes in the next two days, he’s likely to still be in demand at only 18 with a big future.”
Spurs are unlikely to sign Nusa before Thursday’s transfer deadline, having already completed the acquisitions of Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin.
Head coach Ange Postecoglou stated on Tuesday that no new players are anticipated to join the team.
