Roberts, 28, may inspire Leeds to further upset the established Championship top two after he stood out as a full-throttle attacking full-back during Burnley’s recent second-tier title campaign, scoring four goals under Vincent Kompany.

Both players in question could make Leeds difficult to stop down that flank with Crysencio Summerville and Junior Firpo nearly unplayable on the other left side, if Brooks was signed as an additional right midfield option to allay worries that Daniel James would be in the Whites’ treatment room for some time.

Archie Grey, who is more naturally suited in midfield, has had to start at right-back 17 times this season; Roberts could theoretically take his place in the Whites’ starting lineup right now.

Roberts would give Leeds that extra edge in understanding what it takes to get promoted via the top two. During Roberts’ time with the Swans, former Swansea City manager Steve Cooper called him a “excellent” player. With the Whites currently putting a lot of effort into positioning themselves as automatic promotion candidates, that might prove to be quite helpful.

With Ethan Ampadu performing well on the international scene alongside the Leeds targets, Brooks and Roberts have a history of playing well together for Wales.
