TalkSPORT pundit slams ‘theatrical’ Georginio Rutter after ‘unbelievable’ incident for Leeds United v Norwich

Georginio Rutter, a forward for Leeds United, came under fire from Neil Redfearn for making a “theatrical” dive during the Whites’ Championship match against Norwich City.

Daniel Farke’s team defeated the Canaries 1-0 on Wednesday, January 24, to add three more points to their thrilling victory over Preston North End. Patrick Bamford’s header in the first half of the game sealed the victory.

TalkSPORT pundit Redfearn, however, was not pleased with all facets of Leeds’ performance and was quick to blame Rutter for losing too easily under minimal pressure following a “unbelievable” display of talent.

He remarked, “He’s looking for it in the end,” during a talkSPORT 2 interview on January 24, 19:56. The dive is highly theatrical, but he put on an amazing performance to get there.

“I was strong with the ball and twisted and turned away from tackles after receiving the ball on a type of centre circle. I then hooked in with Summerville, which has happened a lot this season. Thought he had gained his team a free kick, but the referee had different ideas.

Theatrical

Rutter, along with a few other players in the Leeds United changing room, is guilty of going to ground far too readily despite having excellent talents and technical ability. This is especially true given the Frenchman’s power.

When the ball is at his feet, Rutter can get past opponents quite easily and make them appear like statues, but occasionally he smashes the deck more like a bulldozer than a shoulder-to-shoulder hit.

The fact that officials are continuously expecting the Leeds center-forward to have dived rather than been fouled makes it even more aggravating as it has resulted in the striker receiving fewer and fewer free kicks. His actions are now hurting him more than helping.

The 21-year-old should start to eliminate it out of his game as he continues to develop. While he is currently a pleasure to watch wearing a Leeds shirt, he frequently lets himself down during games.

Spotted: Willy Gnonto footage emerges from inside Elland Road as Leeds United transfer speculation continues

Even though Willy Gnonto was left off of the matchday squad, footage of him in the Leeds United dressing room following the victory over Norwich City has surfaced.

After the team defeated the Canaries 1-0 on Wednesday, Georginio Rutter posted a photo of himself alongside the Italian player to Instagram with the caption, “Baby lova in the dressing room.”

It comes after Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano said in his Daily Briefing on Wednesday that talks on a new deal with the 20-year-old forward are “moving forward,” even though there are still rumours that he may leave Elland Road during the January transfer window.

Interesting

Gnonto was in the dressing room, which is interesting to note, following Leeds’ crucial three-point victory over Norwich on Wednesday.

The club is convinced that they want to cling onto the winger despite the player’s constant links to a move away from Elland Road during this transfer window.

It seems that he is now more than eager to stay given that the contract talks are moving forward, despite his lack of starts over the last three months.

It’s good to see that the Italian is still rooting for the other players and wants to hang out with them even when he’s not playing, especially after missing the game against the Canaries due to injury.

In an attempt to support the Whites’ immediate return to the Premier League this season, he’ll be itching to get back into the action as soon as possible.
