Leeds United make official approach for Ben Johnson transfer as FFP update drops
Ben Johnson is a full-back, and according to Football Transfers, Leeds United and Millwall have both approached West Ham about a possible January trade.
West Ham has to sell due to Financial Fair Play requirements, and both Championship teams have discussed a potential deal with the Hammers, according to a report on January 22 from the transfer news website.
Leeds is able to provide Johnson with an escape path, and this has happened while West Ham is focusing on signing deals that most likely depend on players leaving.

Johnson was recently labeled as “one to watch” in a report by The Mirror [18 January], and now that the two teams have established communication, the deal is starting to appear more likely.
The source further stated that the defender may receive an offer for a new contract in East London if he stays in the Hammers’ lineup due to their persistent injury problems.
Leeds should be chatting to Johnson in an attempt to persuade him that moving to Elland Road would be a good idea, even though Johnson may choose to stay at West Ham for the long run and that choice may depend on his ability to impress those in charge in East London.
The fact that Leeds is moving closer to gaining promotion and can pay more than Millwall because of their previous Premier League success and accompanying parachute payments will give them an advantage over the latter.
