‘Poor’ – Sky Sports pundit blasts Leeds star in clash v Preston, launches ‘Payback’ accusation

Sky Sports pundit blasts Crysencio Summerville in Leeds United clash v Preston, launches ‘payback’ accusation

In the Leeds United game against Preston North End on Sunday, January 21, Andy Hinchcliffe chastised Crysencio Summerville for a “poor” challenge he made on Jordan Storey.

During his co-commentary on Sky Sports Football at 12:39 p.m., the pundit stated that the 22-year-old was “nowhere near the ball” and received a yellow card for fouling the Lilywhites center-back during the match at Elland Road.

He went on to say that the Dutch winger, who was “frustrated,” might be seeking “payback” for the defender’s earlier block of him during the first half of the match.

Hinchcliffe stated, “There will always be risk involved in this challenge.” If you decide to go in here, you have to be positive that you’ll get something on the ball. It’s a bad challenge that calls for a yellow card, as he takes out the centre half while having nowhere near the ball.

“Maybe out of frustration, he took aim to exact revenge after Storey blocked him in a previous challenge. That makes me wonder if that challenge was intended as retaliation.”

Joel Piroe’s thrilling last-minute penalty helped Leeds win 2-1; as a result, they are now four points behind second-place Southampton.

Rash

Summerville’s challenge was really reckless because he was never going to win the ball and, when you take out a man like that, you’re almost guaranteed a yellow card.

Maybe there was just a little bit of frustration after what happened with Storey earlier, but sometimes you just have to keep your cool.

Given that it was his sixth booking of the season—quite a high number for a forward player at this point in the season—the winger is no stranger to the yellow card.

Leeds United

Maybe he should be a little more cautious while making tackles, even though you don’t want to take away from his competitive edge. The last thing the Whites need is for him to receive a punishment.

Daniel Farke will understand the significance of starting him in every game as his team attempts to earn promotion after his brilliant performance in the Championship this season.

Phil Hay fumes at ‘shambles’ he saw in Leeds United win v Preston North End

Following Leeds United’s 2-1 victory over Preston North End on Sunday (January 21), Phil Hay was incensed at what he called a “shambles” moment from his team.

Elland Road saw a poor display of home team defence as the visitors took the lead through Will Keane after just two minutes.

Reporter Hay from the Athletic was not pleased with what he witnessed from the home team, as he stated on his official X account on January 21.

“A disarray at Ben Whiteman’s free kick. Liam Millar attempts a header back across goal and finds the six-yard area with his strike.

“Will Keane is present to secure a straightforward victory. initial assault. #lufc 0-1.

Soon after, Dan James pulled one back for Leeds, who are now four points behind Southampton in second place. Joel Piroe then made a spectacular penalty kick in injury time to seal the 2-1 victory.

Should do better

As starts go, this was a rather bad one for Leeds, with Ben Whiteman’s throw into the box from a free-kick leaving the defending completely exposed.

It was a moment that no one wearing a home shirt will look back on with too much pride, and Keane really could not pass up the chance.

Dan James’ goal four minutes later brought the score back to even, but Leeds cannot afford such a moment as the competition for automatic promotion heats up in the second half of the season.
