Leeds United can send shockwaves through Championship as star transfer news shared by Phil Hay
With reports of interest in versatile Tottenham defender Ben Davies, Leeds United could cause ripples throughout the Championship.
Last summer, the Whites pulled off several impressive transfers, but if Davies signs with the Premier League team, those moves might not even come close to matching those.
In an attempt to make a loan offer, Phil Hay claims Leeds is keeping a “speculative eye” on the Wales international’s circumstances at Spurs.
Hay does note that at this point, any move would be “incredibly unlikely,” as she reports for The Athletic on January 17.
Under Ange Postecoglou, Davies has made 16 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions this season, ten of which have been starts in the Premier League.
Leeds appears to have minimal chances of acquiring the 30-year-old before to the January transfer window closing.
Nevertheless, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are both recovering from injuries, and Spurs have added Radu Dragusin from Genoa this month.
Davies is a versatile player who can play center back, full back, or wing back; however, Postecoglou also favors Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie in the latter two positions.
Therefore, it’s not completely out of the question that he might temporarily relocate from North London to a location where he will perform frequently.
Similar to the addition of Joe Rodon to the loan package and the signing of Ethan Ampadu, this move would cause others in the division to take notice.
Leeds may benefit from the Rodon trade, in fact, since the Welshman has improved his reputation with a string of excellent performances.
When a revitalized Rodon returns to Tottenham in the summer, the team can choose whether to sell him or hold onto him.
Compatriot Davies may have the same opportunity, which would guarantee Leeds has a team the other teams in the division will be jealous of.

The fact that Davies can play multiple roles makes him an excellent addition to Leeds. With 222 Tottenham matches under his belt, the Welsh international is a flexible choice because he can play left wing-back, left center-back, and left back. Farke’s team would greatly benefit from it, as they currently lack in a number of areas.
But, Postecoglou is probably going to want to hang onto a player with his experience at number 33, so the Whites could have to hunt elsewhere for a new full-back. Given the recent penalties that Nottingham Forest, a Premier League team, is facing, a transaction including Williams might be completed quickly.
