Leeds United now want to sign USA Defender  as informal talks fail

Voetbal Nieuws claims that “McKenzie will enter the final year of his contract with Genk next season, and the club certainly wants to keep him until the summer.”

“Genk and McKenzie had previously had informal discussions about extending their contract last year, but those discussions produced no tangible results.”

A new defender incoming?

Naturally, Leeds had to bid farewell to one defender during the January transfer window as Luke Ayling signed a loan to join Middlesbrough.

McKenzie would not be a like-for-like replacement for Ayling because he is a central defender, but Daniel Farke may still use him to strengthen his defensive options.

Nevertheless, when the Elland Road team attempted to put further pressure on the teams above them in the table, Whites supporters would not turn down another guy to fortify the defence.

Leicester City is leading the race and will be very difficult to catch, but Southampton and Ipswich Town, who are in second and third place, respectively, can be caught.

But with a few Premier League clubs reportedly interested in McKenzie, Leeds will probably have trouble acquiring him.

However, there may be hope thanks to his representative, Wasserman, who also represents Leeds star Crysencio Summerville, according to McKenzie’s Instagram.

The Whites will leave the invitation open, however, as they hope to welcome Ayling back in the near future, and World Darts Champion and Leeds United fan Luke Humphries will instead be in attendance for Sunday’s match.

Hit a snag

Following Ayling’s somewhat unexpected transfer to the Riverside, Leeds United had planned to bid him a dignified farewell. However, it appears that they will have to wait to give “Bill” the send-off he deserves.

Even though it’s early on, it appears that everyone involved made the proper decision with this move. Leeds easily defeated Cardiff City and took an outstanding three points, with Ayling stepping up under Michael Carrick.

Daniel Farke has enough choices with Sam Byram, Jamie Shackleton, and Archie Grey to make sure the 32-year-old won’t be missed too much by the Whites in the second half of the season. A new defender might even arrive before the transfer window closes.

Hopefully, Ayling’s return to Elland Road won’t be too far off, and the Leeds fans will be able to bid him farewell worthy of a modern-day Whites icon.
