Mystery £1.9m bids rejected for PNE and Leeds United-linked defender
Nathaniel Adjei, a defender for Hammarby, has been linked to Preston North End; however, offers of around £2 million have already been turned down.
At PNE, 2024 must be the year of the defensive additions.
Regarding Jordan Storey, Liam Lindsay, and Andrew Hughes as starting defenders for a squad aiming for the Championship playoffs, Patrick Bauer has faded into obscurity.
Recently, North End has been connected to several defenders, including Connor O’Riordan of Crewe Alexandra, but one speculated target is undoubtedly becoming unavailable.

Adjei was allegedly targeted by North End for a loan with the intention of signing a permanent contract in the summer.
However, Hammarby sought about £3 million for Adjei, a sum that would have undoubtedly exceeded North End’s budget.
Since then, not much has come of that story, but Sunderland and Leeds United, among other teams, have been strongly associated with the Ghanaian.
More rumours are starting to surface in Sweden. According to Football Direkt, Hammarby has allegedly received offers of about 25 million SEK, or about £1.9 million.
Those offers were turned down by Hammarby because they were for 35–40 million SEK, or between £2.6 and £3 million.
After committing big money to the signings of Milutin Osmajic and Mads Frøkjaer-Jensen, we can’t see PNE negotiating a deal with that kind of value included.
Rumours do suggest that PNE is still searching overseas for possible additions despite acquiring Osmajic and Frøkjær-Jensen in the summer.
Adjei would be a great match as an athletic centre back with star potential, but North End’s budget will probably not go this far in the January transfer window.
Since a calm January window is anticipated, we would actually be shocked to see anyone arrive at Deepdale this month.
