‘Not good enough’: Jamie Redknapp unhappy with £42m Tottenham player after what he did today

‘Not good enough’… Jamie Redknapp is unhappy with £42 million Tottenham player after what he did vs Manchester United

Jamie Redknapp was not impressed with Tottenham Hotspur’s Cristian Romero’s defence at Old Trafford today.

On Sunday, Ange Postecoglou welcomed back the Argentine and Micky van de Ven, who had not performed together since early November.

The center-back duo didn’t exactly have the best of starts, as Rasmus Hojlund scored three minutes into the game.

Marcus Rashford was put away by Bruno Fernandes, and Destiny Udogie eventually tackled the United winger.

Hojlund seized the opportunity to attack the lost ball, taking a yard off of Cristian Romero and slamming it past Guglielmo Vicario.

Additionally, Romero has come under fire from Jamie Redknapp for trying to block the shot with his hands behind his back.

Redknapp unimpressed with Romero’s defending for the Manchester United goal

Redknapp gave an explanation for his belief that Romero could have performed better for United’s opening goal during the game’s telecast on Sky Sports.

The former Spurs player remarked, “I want to talk about Romero as well because you see so many defenders today put their hands behind their backs.” “It is hard to run correctly with your hands behind your back.

“Just raise your hands and assume a decent, balanced stance when you notice him there. His hands behind his back are visible there; that’s not good enough.

It makes sense why, ever since VAR was introduced to sports, defenders have been more likely to put their hands behind their backs in an attempt to block shots.

Romero may have performed better in this scenario, though, especially as the £42 million defender was in a prime position to respond.

However, Richarlison’s well-placed header gave Spurs the equaliser at Old Trafford after just 15 minutes.

For extended stretches of the game, Tottenham was in control, but in the fortyth minute, they were caught off guard.

After a nice exchange of passes with Hojlund, Marcus Rashford defeated Vicario by finishing the ball in the bottom corner.

But immediately following the break, Spurs struck back, with Timo Werner sending up Rodrigo Bentancur with a masterfully executed play.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TOLD ERIC DIER HAS ‘NO PLACE’ AT BAYERN MUNICH DESPITE JANUARY MOVE

Ashley Williams believes that Eric Dier’s decision to join Bayern Munich over Tottenham Hotspur was only influenced by his “mate,” Harry Kane.

The former Wales international believes that Eric Dier has “no place” at Bayern Munich and that his entrance in January was done to please his England captain.

Harry Kane joined the Bundesliga’s biggest teams after leaving Tottenham Hotspur in the summer. Given that he is looking for titles and has had an incredible start at his new club, many people weren’t surprised by his decision.

But now Eric Dier finds himself playing for one of the biggest teams in the world. Dier has struggled for minutes under Ange Postecoglou at Spurs this season, even going so far as to play second fiddle to fullbacks.

The 29-year-old will be pinching himself, but Ashley Williams revealed on Vibe with Five that the £85k-per-week player will only play in domestic cup events.

Bayern Munich will have competition this season to win the Bundesliga since Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen team is playing crazy.

Eric Dier has been thrown into the deep end, so to speak, especially considering that they are among the favourites to win the Champions League.

Eric Dier at Bayern Munich

“His mate is there,” said Williams on why Dier is at Bayern. “It’s the easy answer to that.

“He (Kane) probably prefers one (a mate) and they are tight them two. He has just said ‘bring my mate’. And they have gone ‘alright’. It’s that simple.

“There isn’t one person at Bayern Munich that has gone. ‘We need a centre-half scouting system. Who is on it? Oh, Eric Dier’. There is no place for Eric (in Bayern’s defence).

“I am pretty sure that Harry Kane and Eric Dier, the whole family are friends and everything – he will play a couple of games, no more and no less. He will play in the Carabao, their version. That’s it. Done!

“But what a move! I would never get that move if I didn’t have any friends.”

Ex-Tottenham boys winning trophies in Germany

Kane and Dier were both a part of an incredible Spurs team led by Mauricio Pochettino for an extended period of time.

They had everything, front to back. In addition to making some excellent business agreements, they were fascinating to watch.

But they were missing one thing: trophies. And they can now put that all to rest.

Kane and Dier have the opportunity to win some silverware at this time, since there won’t be a greater opportunity to do it in the future if they don’t accomplish it in Munich.
