Alex Crook shares Leeds United transfer update as new David Brooks ‘guarantee’ emerges
David Brooks, a winger for Bournemouth, is reportedly of interest to Leeds United, although the Welshman cannot move until the end of the transfer window, according to Alex Crook.
Following a cancer fight, the 26-year-old has returned to the south coast and has made 12 Premier League appearances for the Cherries this season, picking up one assist and one goal.
Though many teams are interested in taking Brooks on loan, the Championship is showing a lot of interest in him. TalkSPORT’s lead football journalist, Crook, has acknowledged that no possible transfer is “guaranteed.”
He stated, “Brooks has a lot of Championship interest, Leeds as well [as Southampton],” as reported by Give Me Sport on January 10. However, I don’t think Hamed Traore will be back anytime soon because Bournemouth lost him to malaria.
“If they release Dango Ouattara, it will be in the latter part of the window because they are heading to AFCON. Nothing may be taken for granted.
Nothing is guaranteed
Leeds United don’t need a complete overhaul this January, but Daniel Farke’s side could do with a couple of new, exciting additions to help reignite his side’s push for the Championship’s automatic promotion places in the second half of the season.
Brooks could be that exact sort of addition, offering a blend of youth and experience that make him an incredible asset to have in England’s second tier. He has played in the Championship for a lot of his career and knows what it takes to get out of the division.
The Welshman may be a valuable addition to the Whites, and Southampton would suffer if they were to lose out on him. That might have a significant effect on the second half of the season given how closely the two teams are separated in the Championship.
According to Crooks’ most recent assessment, Leeds will need to exercise patience in this one, although Farke’s team is still very much in the running.

He could be available for a reduced price in the summer as he is nearing the end of his contract with the Spurs in June. The agreement to bring Rodon to West Yorkshire this summer did not contain a buyout option for Leeds.

Lee Sharpe’s Joe Rodon verdict
Sharpe made over 30 appearances for Leeds between 1996 and 1999, scoring six goals in those games. The 52-year-old thinks that consistency is important and anticipates Leeds to try to sign the Spurs center-back this summer.
Speaking with FLW, he declared: “It’s really important to try and keep your back four together. I think it’s the backbone and route to success, if you like, a solid back four and a good goalkeeper.
“If they can keep him, he’s been a bit of a dictator this year, he’s really led the backline well.
“It’s really important that they keep the senior players and keep the players that are looking like they can get promoted with.”
Rodon’s Leeds stance
In an interview with Leeds Live earlier this month, Rodon stated, “I’m not sure I can respond to that topic. I can only think on the next game and watch what transpires.
“Obviously, I’m here for the season, and my goal is to succeed as much as I can with this team and this club by giving it everything I’ve got.
“All we can do is work hard and be ready to see what happens.”
Leeds should sign Rodon from Tottenham
If Leeds are promoted in the summer, it seems like a no-brainer to sign. In addition to being a very successful addition, Sharpe suggests that continuity and chemistry will be beneficial as the team enters a new season.
It is critical for Leeds to have that familiarity with a solid spine, and when defending transitions, the axis of Rodon, Struijk, and Ethan Ampadu is very crucial.
Furthermore, Rodon appears to be content in West Yorkshire, living side by side with other Welshmen like Ampadu and Dan James. If a deal needs to be made, Leeds needs to act fast to make it happen.
