Report: PSG now ‘advancing’ in shock deal to sign 30-year-old from Leeds United permanently

Yesterday, Robin Koch formally completed his departure from Leeds United, and it now seems that he will be replaced on loan by someone else.

After Leeds got relegated from the Premier League in May of last year, Koch was one of eight players from the starting lineup from that season to go on loan.

Koch initially signed for Eintracht Frankfurt on a season-long loan, but the German team acted swiftly to sign him long-term before his Elland Road contract expired in the summer.

This most recent news will definitely surprise people, even though the transfer won’t. Foot Mercato claims that PSG is now “advancing” in their pursuit of signing Diego Llorente, who is presently on loan at AS Roma.

Only a few hours had passed since L’Equipe initially revealed PSG’s interest, but it appears that things have progressed swiftly, with Llorente emerging as the primary target and the French team eager to bolster their defence.

Llorente closing on shock PSG switch

Currently serving out a second loan at Roma, Llorente might make the move permanent in the summer if certain appearance requirements are satisfied.

Leeds can only be happy to hear that PSG may now make an offer that is greater than the clause fee in Roma’s contract in order to complete the deal during this transfer window.

Naturally, Llorente knows PSG boss Luis Enrique, who most recently managed the Spanish national team and selected the 30-year-old in multiple squads.

Not only is he not the first Leeds defender that PSG has been connected to this month, but they were also considering crucial player Pascal Struijk prior to signing Brazilian prospect Lucas Beraldo.

Given that PSG will need to negotiate with both Leeds and Roma, it will be intriguing to watch how this Llorente deal develops over the coming days.

In related development:

Tottenham are ready to include Djed Spence in the deal to sign Radu Dragusin, with the right-back likely to go on a loan deal.

Fabricio Romano reports that Genoa is open to considering Tottenham’s latest offer for Radu Dragusin, which might involve Djed Spence. The right-back may spend the remainder of the season on loan at Genoa since he is still not a part of Spurs’ plans.

Djed Spence was part of the Tottenham trade for Radu Dragusin.

Tottenham has had multiple near-misses in the previous few days alone with Radu Dragusin, their main defensive target. When other teams entered the sweepstakes and threatened to thwart Spurs’ advances, they were already deep into negotiations.

Dragusin gave the Serie A winners positive signs regarding a move, while Napoli joined the chase sooner. Tottenham and Genoa had not reached an agreement since the latter was far from meeting Tottenham’s €30 million asking price, which may include add-ons.

Then, Tottenham entered the contest again because they wanted to rapidly come to an agreement. Bayern Munich’s offer was the best that Genoa had received. According to Fabrizio Romano, Djed Spence, together with €25 million in fixed fees and an additional €5 million in add-ons, is now acceptable to Genoa as part of the transaction.

Given that Ange Postecoglou’s team may be able to outbid the competition for the Romanian defender, Spurs may be given the go-ahead to sign their top defensive target. It might be a brilliant move to trade the unwanted 23-year-old right back for the Genoa star.

The future of Djed Spence at Tottenham

After a lacklustre loan stint at Leeds United, Spence returned as soon as the January transfer market opened. Sergio Reguilon returned to Tottenham from Manchester United, having triggered his contract’s break clause.

Spence, who was previously regarded as one of England’s most promising young right-backs, is currently in unwelcome territory and faces uncertain futures.Tottenham is prepared to let him go, but the chance to loan him to Genoa might ultimately make Dragusin their top defensive target.

It is unclear if Genoa would want a buy option under the loan contract. When the 23-year-old’s loan with Genoa expires in the summer, Tottenham will presumably be pleased to find a long-term partner for him given they do not currently have any plans for him.
