Tottenham officially strike deal with club for highly-rated defender
Ashley Phillips, a defender for Plymouth Argyle, has officially signed a contract with Tottenham.
After spending £2 million to join from Blackburn, the highly-regarded 18-year-old signed a lengthy five-year contract last summer.
At the age of 17, he made his Blackburn debut last season and played in 14 games across various competitions, leaving a lasting impact.
Ange Postecoglou was so impressed with Phillips’ talent that she declined to loan him out. At first, Phillips was able to take advantage of a first-team opportunity because of injuries to Micky van de Ven and Romero’s suspension. Unfortunately, he was unable to play straight away and advance with the senior squad due to an unfortunate injury setback.
But as the team has officially declared, Tottenham has decided to assist Phillips develop by loaning him to Plymouth for the balance of the season.
However, Spurs have now had second thoughts and will be loaning him to Plymouth for the remainder of the season.Tottenham provided written confirmation of the move.
Meanwhile, in negotiations with Genoa defender Radu Dragusin, Spurs are only a few million short of their asking price.
To obtain Dragusin before teams like Bayern and Milan make more progress, Levy needs to move quickly.
