Serie A club’s director’s recent comments suggest a transfer is now unlikely

In the January transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur has been focusing on both the new arrivals and departures.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is one player who may be leaving North London this month.

Hojbjerg has been a consistent midfield player for Spurs since moving from Southampton, although Ange Postecoglou has curtailed his playing time.

The majority of his efforts this season have come from the bench, as the Australian has favoured Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma over him.

The Danish midfielder is reportedly actively seeking a move out of the team and has even engaged a new layer to speed up the process due to the lack of playing time.

Juve, one of the biggest teams in Serie A, has been heavily linked to a bid for him.

Numerous publications, notably Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, have revealed the Turin-based side’s interest. They stated that Spurs would only allow the player to go on loan if the Turin-based team consented to a contract that required them to purchase the player for €30 million the following season.

The Bianconeri, on the other hand, think that the Lilywhites are asking too much for the player, who they intended to sign as a stopgap until the end of the season and then decide on a plan in June.

For this reason, the Italian team might give up on signing the former Southampton star. According to Fabricio Romano, the Juventus director has formally ruled out the signing possibilities.

Both Hojbjerg and Kalvin Phillips of Manchester City are not targets, according to Giuntoli. He expressed:

“Kalvin Phillips or Pierre-Emile Højbjerg? In this moment we don’t see any opportunity on technical and financial point of view”.

“We are not forced to sign a new player, we only look for correct opportunities and we can’t see anyone as of now.” Says TBH:

Due to their current financial difficulties, Juventus’ director has ruled out a move for Hojbjerg; but, if they are able to purchase a midfield player this window, it seems that Spurs would like to get go of him.

A number of players, notably Kalvin Phillips and Conor Gallagher, have been connected to them.

Hojbjerg, though, is rumoured to have other choices as well. Fulham is among the Premier League teams who reportedly expressed interest in signing him.
