‘Situation is interesting’: Phil Hay says Daniel Farke has a player who is ‘definitely not happy’ at Leeds

Daniel Farke is keen to keep as many members of his Leeds United team healthy as possible this month.Farke reportedly told his players that they would have to play all of the remaining games at Elland Road, regardless of their circumstances, because Leeds were very much in the running for automatic promotion.Farke did, however, seem to soften his position on one player—who is drawing a lot of interest—after Leeds defeated Birmingham City 3-0 on New Year’s Day.

Charlie Cresswell is that guy. After the game, Farke expressed his desire for him to stay but acknowledged that the player’s wishes should also be considered by the club.Speaking on the most recent episode of the Square Ball Podcast, Phil Hay, an athletic writer, revealed that Cresswell is indeed dissatisfied with his present lack of playing time at Estate Road.

Leeds should let Cresswell go

“Cresswell’s situation is interesting,” he remarked. Naturally, there is a tonne of interest in him. For the past few weeks, he and Gelhardt have essentially been informed that they are required and will be staying.

“[After Birmingham], Farke was stating that Cresswell is a player they don’t want to lose, but he did add that you have to take the player’s wants into account as well.

“Cresswell is simply not getting any looks in, so he’s not happy with the lack of minutes.” wasn’t a substitute against Birmingham because Farke wanted Poveda to use more inventiveness.

“He will want to play, and you very quickly get to the mindset of, ‘Why do you want me to stay?’ if you’re not even included in the matchday squad.”
