Dean Jones makes ‘lucky’ Leeds United transfer claim amid Crysencio Summerville gossip

According to journalist Dean Jones, Leeds United “must feel lucky” that Luis Sinisterra—rather than Crysencio Summerville—left in the summer.

While Summerville remained at Leeds, Sinisterra made a season-long loan return to the Premier League with Bournemouth in September.

The Dutchman has scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 23 games this season, making him one of the Championship’s most impressive players.

Jones claims Leeds will be ready for bids as a result of the unavoidable rumours of a move away from Elland Road this month.

On January 5, the ex-Eurosport reporter said to GiveMeSport, “He’s scoring a goal pretty much every other game.”

“And you have to take advantage of it when you have someone playing at this level of experience.”

“I’m sure at the time it was all a bit nervous and, on the decision making front, you’re probably a little bit unsure if it was certainly the right thing, so Leeds must feel happy that things turned out this way in terms of him staying and Sinisterra leaving.

Additionally, there were glimmers of Summerville’s potential in the previous season. Leeds only needs to hope that he keeps his entire attention on the task at hand and that no bids come in January.

Fingers crossed

Even if Jaidon Anthony left to take his place, it was still a major setback to lose Sinisterra to Bournemouth so late in the transfer season.

Sammie Szmodics (19) and Adam Armstrong (22) are the only players to have contributed to more goals than the Leeds jewel’s 18 [FBref], but Summerville has more than doubled its output this season.

Although that performance is undoubtedly very beneficial for Leeds, it also means Premier League teams and other European teams will be paying attention.

As to Conor McGilligan, a journalist, Newcastle United would be inclined to approach this month, as per his suggestion on his One Leeds Fan YouTube channel [3 January, 23:09].

Leeds will not entertain a sale even in the event that an offer is made, similar to Wilfried Gnonto’s actions during the summer. But sometimes a huge offer can just be too good to refuse.

Perfectly speaking, no teams will bid on Summerville, so United won’t have to make a selection. Still, that seems unlikely given his present form.
