Leeds United expected to clear notable new year obstacle despite big warning and ‘record’

Although the Whites have sent a clear warning, Leeds United is expected to overcome a significant new year challenge.
On New Year’s Day, Daniel Farke’s Whites defeated Birmingham City 3-0 in the Championship to kick off 2024, but the focus now shifts to the FA Cup’s third round. Leeds, who are now third in League One and on a ten-game undefeated streak, will travel to Peterborough United on Sunday afternoon after being drawn away from home for a record 13 times in the league.

The draw (7-2) is up for grabs, and Leeds will have to cover the first eight players in the first scorer market, which is led by Joel Piroe (15-4) and followed by youthful attacker Mateo Joseph (5s) and Patrick Bamford (4s).At 17-2, Jonson Clarke-Harris is considered the main threat for Peterborough.Leeds is regarded as one of the top 20 most likely winners even though they are 100-1 favourites, the same odds as Southampton, and a win would move the Whites into the competition’s last 32.

The only Championship team with lower odds is Leicester City, who are 80-1. West Brom and Sunderland are both 175-1 shots, while Ipswich Town is at 150. With a 3-1 advantage over Arsenal at 10s and both Manchester United and Chelsea at 11s, Manchester City is the obvious favourite to win.

Journalist: “Don’t be surprised” if Leeds United is suddenly in the running to get Chelsea star on loan

It seems likely that Leeds United’s January transfer window plan will revolve around loan agreements.
A long back, Angus Kinnear proposed that Leeds had purposefully kept two loan spots vacant during the summer, and that they would evaluate the situation this month.

Currently, Joe Rodon, Djed Spence, and Jaydon Anthony are in the midst of season-long loan agreements with

Premier League teams, but at least one more may be on the horizon at this point.

Although David Brooks of Bournemouth has already been mentioned, Ben Jacobs has now revealed that Leeds may be considering a move for Andrey Santos, the midfield player for Chelsea.

After spending time on loan at Nottingham Forest, Santos was recently called back, and Jacobs has discussed the Brazilian’s circumstances on the CaughtOffside January Transfer Window Guide [3 January, 15:07].

Jacobs namechecks Leeds in Santos race

Although Crystal Palace appears to have the strongest interest at the moment, he believes that Leeds and fellow promotion contenders Ipswich Town are also two teams to keep an eye on.

“Crystal Palace is interested, but there are Championship clubs as well,” the speaker stated. Ipswich might be a team to keep an eye on, and Leeds could still be involved because, despite finding a replacement, they lost Weston McKennie. As a result, there may be a window of opportunity there, so don’t be shocked if Santos leaves.

It must be acknowledged that Archie Grey, Emilia Gruev, Glen Kamara, and Ethan Ampadu are all solid options in the middle of the park, so the arrival of a new central midfielder this month would be surprising.

Given that McKennie’s loan from Juventus ended a long time ago, it is also a little odd for Jacobs to mention him as a connection to the case.

But after just two loan games at Forest, Santos is obviously a player for whom Chelsea has great expectations, and they are eager for him to sign with a team where he can play frequently. A championship team might be your best bet in that situation.
