Leeds Star to be ‘fined two weeks wages’ after Leeds bust-up – expert

Illan Meslier, the star player for Leeds, could be fined two weeks’ pay after his red card against Preston North End on Boxing Day.

Former Tottenham and Rangers defender Alan Hutton blasted the “silly” incident and said it cost the Whites all three points in an exclusive interview with Football Insider.

Meslier was sent off early in the second half for pushing Milutin Osmajic, who had just seconds earlier confronted Ben Whiteman.

Osmajic dived to the ground with dramatic effect, but Meslier’s move was sufficient for referee John Smith to give the 23-year-old his first career red card.

Hutton said that any fine would rely on Daniel Farke’s reaction to the situation, indicating that he had little compassion for the shot-stopper.

“It depends on the manager but for doing something so silly he could get fined two weeks’ wages from the club,” he told Football Insider.

“Anything can happen. He put his team in a really difficult situation and then they go and lose the game.

“Preston went on and scored a couple of minutes after Meslier got sent off, so he’s effectively cost his team those three points.

“It’s the red mist. He gets involved with players twice.

“As soon as you lift your hands to somebody, you’re always running the risk of getting sent off.

“He lost his head completely for a minute and he cost his team.”

Italian media embarrass themselves with Leeds United update on Wilfried Gnonto exit

Thanks to his father, Mark Smith has always been a supporter of Leeds United. He was compelled to watch the 2005–06 season and the aftermath of the team’s Premier League relegation in the early 2000s. He is now regularly posting fan views for MOT Leeds News, where he expresses his love for the Whites.

Wilfried Gnonto’s strange case at Leeds United just keeps getting stranger, with a new development almost every month at the moment.

Smith View: Italian media embarrass themselves with new Gnonto-Leeds exit update

The Italian international has never truly made a return to the Premier League after attempting and failing to force a summer departure following his demotion.

On Friday, December 30, Daniel Farke made the decision to start Gnonto again in the team’s lineup against West Brom, although he wasn’t exactly rewarded for it.

In yet another instance of what Farke has been trying to achieve for weeks, West Brom came away with all three points, although the winger was by no means the issue.

All of this occurs after Il Romanista revealed on December 28 that Leeds is at last prepared to approve the attacker’s departure when the window opens in January.

They add that Lazio and Fiorentina are circling him and that he can do it for the pitiful sum of just £8.7 million, which only serves to further strange this already bizarre tale.

This ranks as the most embarrassing story to break before the January window, despite the Italian media’s generally poor reputation.

How in the world could Leeds and 49ers Enterprises trade one of their top players for less than £10 million? That is just absurd, whether or not he is playing.

Particularly considering that, just a few months prior, it was reported that they were asking for as much as £40 million for the attacker when Everton desired to bring him back to the Premier League [Dean Jones].

Gnonto still has a future in West Yorkshire, and when Farke gives him that steady opportunity once more, he needs to seize it and propel Leeds back to the top.

These reports are quite shameful, even when they are well-timed.
