It is official that the north Londoners are getting ready for the winter transfer window after a trying past month and a half at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Many important players have been injured recently, including James Maddison, Micky van de Ven, and Rodrigo Bentancur. This has highlighted manager Ange Postecoglou’s severe lack of depth at Spurs.

Following their 4-1 victory over Newcastle a fortnight ago, Tottenham embarked on a dismal sequence of four losses in five Premier League games on November 4. This was primarily due to a true squad deficit.
As January draws near, Postecoglou has made it clear that Spurs need a center-back. The Australian has also said that his team is “pushing hard” to make additions early in the transfer window.
“We want to complete our business as soon as possible because of our current injury situation and the players we will be missing,” Postecoglou stated in reference to the Spurs transfers (via Standard Sport).
“We’ve got some significant games in January and signing somebody late in the month could mean they haven’t been able to make an impact in those games. We’re pushing hard, but you need all parties to agree. Postecoglou added. Other clubs, particularly if it’s players they want [to keep], will be wanting to hold on to them for as long as possible for their own reasons through January.”
It is thought that the Lilywhites are planning to sign more attacking players in addition to a center-half. Spurs are reportedly very interested in Juventus attacker Samuel Iling-Junior as Postecoglou looks for a left-wing player.
While many Premier League teams consider a deal for Stuttgart star Serhou Guirassy, there are some indications that a striker signing hasn’t been completely ruled out either. With 16 goals in 13 Bundesliga games this season, the Guinean international is having the time of his life. Spurs have already been contacted about a potential trade.
Tottenham offered Guirassy move by agents
Ninetymin claims that Guirassy’s representatives have contacted Tottenham and numerous other interested parties, ostensibly making an offer to the team. The 27-year-old’s contract has a tantalising £15 million release clause, as has been widely reported. Considering his stellar play this season, this would be a true steal.
Beyond Guirassy’s agents reaching out to teams, not much is known, although columnist Dean Jones implies the “on fire” striker is a man in genuine demand.
“The race to sign Guirassy is getting quite interesting because half the Premier League are now considering whether they should be signing him in January, but I’m learning that this will probably come down to big pay offers,” said Jones to GiveMeSport last week.
“He’s on fire, a European boot contender, and goals are hard to find these days at the top level.”
