For example, former Tottenham player Stephane Dalmat once said that running about to catch a flight is the worst thing ever.
Bobby Zamora, Dalmat’s former Spurs teammate, claims that the versatile Frenchman once pretended to be hurt during a game in order to arrive at the airport on time. Dalmat made 22 appearances for White Hart Lane while on loan during the 2003–04 season.
It was revealed by Zamora in a recent podcast interview that although the 44-year-old was winning over Tottenham supporters, his attitude wasn’t always up to par. Zamora also talked about the time Dalmat pretended to be injured, something he initially disclosed on Jimmy Bullard’s Off the Hook podcast, on that same podcast.
“We played a game at Spurs,” he noted at the time. He just left the pitch in the opening five minutes of the second half.
He just starts to leave the field of play without the ball being out of play or anything else. When I believe I was on the bench, I believed he had a hamstring injury. He moves through the tunnel. Says nothing to anyone at all. After we finished the game and he entered, he had shot.
“We start asking ourselves, ‘Where is he, where is he?'” I’m not sure. Not sure. He doesn’t show up for two days even though he was meant to for the warm-down.
In the end, I learn that he had an aircraft to catch and left the pitch to go down the tunnel, saying, “Off I go, I’m going to get my plane,” because he was unable to travel to the airport after the game due to traffic and other issues. He returned to France, his home country. He was just one of those athletes who didn’t give a damn.”
Prior to joining Inter Milan, Dalmat played for Marseille and PSG. After his time at Tottenham, he played for other less prestigious teams, eventually signed with Racing Santander, Bordeaux, Sochaux, Rennes, and Nimes.
He was a total player, Zamora continued. The ball could not escape him because to his strength, agility, and power. That kind of French haughtiness was all over him. Even when he performed for some insanely large clubs, no one was able to handle him. What a complete moron he was.
